I had the BEST weekend! Friday night Paco and I went to see La Misma Luna at the Arbor Theater. It was pretty good. The little boy in the movie was a great actor. It was sad movie, but not overly dramatized. I thought it was a pretty good portrayal of what it’s like to be illegal in the US. The lead actress look super familiar and it took me forever to realize that she looks a lot like a Mexican Lindsay Lohan, only more mature and prettier.

After passing my exam Saturday morning, I spent the day hanging out with Matt. We went to lunch and then did a lot of window shopping. I always have a great time with Matt, he makes me laugh and he has a great laugh so it’s fun making him laugh.

Saturday night I went to Rainbow and all of my favorite people were there! It was the best night! It’s rare when that many people I like show up, like Harvey, both of the Roberts, Matt, Lee, David, James, Dustin, Chaney, Delia, Scott, Eric and Taylor. I danced and danced and danced all night. Man, I wish I could do that every night. I would be in the best shape of my life.

They had a little something extra going on Saturday night as well. There were a few drag queens hanging around, which was very odd. There are usually never drag queens at Rainbow on a Saturday night. They were there doing a contest to see who is the sexiest person at Rainbow. I was hanging out with Scott, Delia, and Chaney when this guy came up to me and gave me a ticket and told me that I would be in the contest. Woot woot!

A bit later a guy came over and gave one to Chaney and I instantly knew my chances of winning were gone, cuz Chaney is pretty hot. A bit later they called us all up on the dance floor and there were three guys and three girls. The first round eliminated one guy and two girls, so it wast just Chaney, Me, and the girl. Then Chaney got eliminated. Then I WON! That’s right! I’m was crowned (no crown involved) the sexiest person at Rainbow, which came with a $25 bar tab and $25 in cash. Woot woot! I guess I won because I’m in High Def now and people can see me better. lol

Sunday I spent most of the morning sleeping. I was exhausted from Saturday night. My feet are all torn up and in pain even still. I went to a late lunch with Robert and spent a while chatting with him. Afterward I went home and just relaxed. Paco came home early from work, we took a nap, and then got ready to pick up his mother (Sara) for her birthday dinner.

We took her to Estância Churrascaria in South Austin. I was kind of bitter with myself because I had eaten a big lunch and eaten it late, so I didn’t have a lot of room to stuff my face with the deliciousness at Estância.

Last night I watched Desperate Housewives when I got home. It was pretty good, but could have had more drama. I don’t think anyone got slapped last night.

I’ll never understand why people that don’t like me read my blog (my public one) and then leave nasty comments. Why are you even reading my blog if you don’t like me? And then to go so far as to leave a comment? How pathetic!

Every time I get one, which really isn’t that often, it cracks me up. How sad does someone’s life have to be to read blogs of people they don’t like and then leave nasty comments. It’s one thing when you don’t like someone and you’re forced to see them all the time and you just have to say nasty things to vent. It’s another thing to seek out my blog read it and then leave a nasty comment.

I actually kind of find it flattering to have such an effect on someone, even if it is negative. So anyway, this jackass left a comment on my blog entry about passing the Real Estate exam:

If you passed it must be pretty simple.

The National Portion was pretty simple, the Texas portion I thought was hard, but I did really well… so I guess not. However… 70% of people fail the test the first time. My friend Lisa said she knew someone that took it 17 times!

I took my Real Estate exam this morning and I passed! Yays for me! I wasn’t worried about it last night or this morning, but once I started taking the Texas portion of the exam I got worried. Those questions were a little tricky… not as tricky as the practice test, but still tricky.

The Texas portion was first and it was 30 questions. I needed 21 correct to pass. I was sure that I failed. I didn’t even have a doubt. Which just made it even harded to take the national Portion of the exam, which was 80 questions. The entire time I was taking it, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I had failed the Texas portion.

The national portion was MUCH easier though. I was really confident about passing that one. When I finished and walked out of the room to the front desk, the lady smiled at me, so for a second I thought I had passed… then she just got quiet and kept typing things so I went back to thinking that I had failed… BUT I DIDN’T!

I needed 21 correct answers to pass the Texas portion and I got 25 out of 30! I was stunned! I needed 56 correct answers on the national portion and I got 74 out of 80! I totally rocked it!

The worst part though was that the room stunk bad of cigarettes. I am allergic to the smell, and the instant I walked in the room I got a sharp pain in my head and the headache began. It was incredibly strong and I just knew I was going to leave there reeking of cigarettes. I was bitter, so when the test was over and I had to do the evaluation, I went off about how the room stunk and it was miserable to sit there taking my test and having to deal with the smell and the headache.

Then later I was telling Matt about it and it occurred to me that it could have been somoene I was sitting next to that stunk, and not the room. Ooops. That totally makes more sense. Damn smokers!

Which reminds me. I went to Hattiesburg Mississippi this weekend to visit Kristi. She sent me a ticket to go help her watch her kid while her mother was out of town for the weekend. On one of my flights a smoker sat next to me and I thought I was going to die. Seriously? Can we have a non-smoking and non-smoker section? What’s the point of having non-smoking if someone that smells like they just smoked an entire pack in a air tight closet sits right next to you?

I don’t have anything against smokers. I know quite a few of them, but the majority of the ones I know never have that strong odor, so it’s not an issue. How is it that some people smell like an ash tray? It’s not just cigarretts either, those people that bath in perfume and cologne are just as bad.

Anyway… my trip to MS was a ton of fun. I got there at around 11pm on Friday night and had to drive from Jackson to Hattiesburg, which is about an hour and a half. This was my first time making the drive, which was scary enough… but then to do it in the dark, in a strange car, and in a horrible rain storm… that was no fun.

I was in such a rush to get there that I just jumped in the car and started driving. I was all the way off airport property before I realized that I didn’t have my headlights on, and I had no idea how to turn them on! I was going 70mph in the rain at night fumbling around trying to find the lights. DUMB.

I actually had no problem getting to Kristi’s house, which was a miracle. Saturday morning when I saw the car that I had been driving I was shocked. I thought I was driving a a little hatchback Hyundai, but it was actually a four door Ford Focus. I must have been totally out of it while driving to Kristi’s.

Saturday we spent the day running errands and just spending time together hanging out. Saturday night we had friends over and had dinner and played games. It was fun meeting her friends and finally being able to put faces to the names.

Sunday was more of the same. Sunday night we did a BBQ and had friends over again. It was a great night again. It was so nice to be somewhere else and not have anything to worry about, like taxes, work, and my real estate exam. I had a great time playing with Kristi’s baby and pretending to be daddy. Her kid and I get along SO WELL. He totally clings to me and has no problem being left alone with me.

Firday night I was up late driving to her house, Saturday night we were up late playing games, and then up early Sunday morning with the kid. Sunday night I was up late again and I had to be up at 3:30am Monday to drive to the airport. That turned out to be a DISASTER.

Sunday night Kristi tried to convince me to change my flight and go home later, but the only next flight was at 11am, and that was jut too late to be able to go into work and I didn’t want to miss any time… no work… no pay.

So I woke up and rushed out of the house and then realized I didn’t have directions. I thought I could use my directions from Friday night in reverse, but that didn’t work. I made a wrong turn and ended up going the wrong direction.

Except in stupid Mississippi the signs are all confusing and the don’t put signs on the highway periodically that tell you what road you are on, so you end up driving for an eternity before you even realize that you are on the wrong road. AND THEN… they don’t have turnarounds in the median, so you have to wait for an exit to get back going the right way.

So when I finally got headed back, I missed my exit to get on the correct road. OMG. I was freaking out at this time and about to have an anxiety attack. I called Kristi and she was half asleep and we were not having much luck trying to figure out where I was and how to correct the situation.

I finally got going the right way and it was 4:45am. It takes an hour and a half to get the airport from where I was, and my flight was supposed to take off at 6:25am. I started to thinking about it and thought that I could rush and maybe make it. But would I have enough time to drop off the rental, go through security, and make my flight? It was possible, but the thought of driving for an hour and a half in a state of panic at 5am just didn’t seem appealing to me.

I thought I could just go to the airport anyway and wait for the next flight, but I already knew that wasn’t until 11am and I didn’t want to be stuck in an airport for 5 hours with nothing to do.

I turned around and went back to Kristi’s and slept for 2 hours and then got up and did it all again. This time with DIRECTIONS! I did so much better this time and I got to the airport on time. The entire day was so off and I kept making bad decisions and doing stupid things.

While going through security at the airport I injured myself. I was taking off my messenger bag and I have this little plastic password key thing on a restractable string attached to my bag. It looks kind of like this:

It got caught on something, so when I put my bag on the conveyor belt the key thing whipped around and smacked me right in the corner of my eye and my nose. OMG it hurt and it cut my eye a little. I was super embarassed and in pain.

Then I thought my flight landed in Austin at 1:45 so I told Paco to pick me up at the airport at 2pm. Wrong. My flight left Houston at 1:45. Oops. When we landed and I turned on my phone I had messages and texts from him wondering where I was.

It was not the best day and all I wanted to do was go home and go to bed.

I haven’t updated in a while because I’m really just too lazy to do it. In the past I have always updated before work, but ever since I started this new job I’ve been in the habit of reading news and gossip before work instead. It’s a hard habit to break.

Not much new going on in my life. I’m finished with all of my Real Estate classes, and I’m basically just waiting on approval from the Texas Real Estate Commission so that I can take my exam and get my license. Lame. There’s so much waiting and paperwork involved with getting a license, it’s pretty ridiculous. The entire process needs to be streamlined.

I’ve been super tired lately, and I think it’s because of allergies. Although it might have something to do with having gone out dancing two weekends in a row, and last weekend I went out Friday and Saturday. Shame on me!

The first weekend I went out was SO much fun. It was Robert’s birthday, but he didn’t hang around Rainbow too long. I had the best time. The music was good, the crowd was good, and I have great partners to dance with. I even had two little fan clubs! There were two packs of girls sitting by the side of the dance floor screaming and hollering for me and at me every time I went by them. It was super fun and a little embarrassing. The guys I danced with were like, “Are they screaming and clapping for us?” Uh.. no. Just me. lol! I’m a total ham about it too. If I know someone is watching, I totally play it up. I should have been a performer.

I was totally feeling the energy that night and the dancing was great. I had two different people ask me if I danced professionally, which was a huge compliment. Someone else asked if there was a line or tickets being handed out because I was dancing all night with so many different people. Time like that make me miss performing with the University of Texas Ballet Folkorico.

The next weekend I went out Friday with Robert to El Chile and then to Charlie’s. I never go to Charlie’s anymore because it is scary and that’s where all of my past hangs out. I was kind of thinking it had been so long that it would be ok to go back and I wouldn’t run too many people I know, but I was wrong.

It was not a great experience. I ran into some people I used to date, and that wasn’t so bad, but the majority of people that hang out at Charlie’s are horrible train wrecks. It was pretty scary in there. Robert and I both agreed never to go back.

I did get one piece of really sad news while I was there. It seems that an ex of mine is now dead from an overdose. He died a year ago. I wish I would have known so I could have gone to the funeral. He was such a nice guy and pretty much the only reason we ever broke up was because of his drinking and drug use.

Saturday night I went out again and it wasn’t so much fun. The dance floor wasn’t slippery enough which caused everyone to wear out faster and it also causes blisters. The music wasn’t so great either. Combine all of that and then not having any fan clubs screaming for me, it just wasn’t the same.

I had my first knitting class last Monday. It was ok. The teacher was not great and she was very picky about everything. I didn’t like her telling me how I should hold the needles. I do what’s comfortable for me, and what’s comfortable for her may not be so for everyone else. I thought it was odd that we didn’t spend a lot of time on the basics yet were supposed to knit a dishrag by the next week’s class. Then we’re supposed to learn how to do a hat and knit in the round? I just don’t know about that.

This past weekend was pretty tame. I have been so exhausted lately, I think from working the regular 40 hour a week job and then doing the part time cleaning job on the side. I’ve always been the kind of person that needs 8 to 9 hours of sleep every night and at least one full day to relax every week… otherwise I get really tired.

Paco and I went to bed early Friday and then Saturday I spent most of the day doing knitting practice and watching TV. We had plans to go to his mother’s house for dinner, which I wasn’t entirely excited about because she was making fish for dinner. Because, as he said, “It’s no eat meat day.” Which translates to “We’re Catholic and it’s holy time!”

Saturday night we went to his mother’s house for dinner, which was traumatizing because she made a whole smörgåsbord of fish and seafood type things. I was TRAUMATIZED. She made a seafood soup with huge pieces of crabs and lobsters, whole shrimp, and cut up tentacles of an octopus. The lobsters, crabs, and shrimp were all still in the shells. The shrimp still had their heads, tails, and eyes attached. OMG

I don’t like eating animals as it is, especially if the meat in any way resembles the animal it came from, so this was beyond horrifying to me. I get grossed out sometimes just putting sandwich meat on bread because I start thinking about how I’m touching some dead animals flesh. She also made fried fish, WHOLE fish with the head and eyes still attached. I’m sorry but I just can’t do that. I can’t sit there and eat an entire animal and pull the flesh from it’s bones like I’m some kind of caveman. NO.

So the real reason we were over there was so that I could put together a desk for his mother. That was quite to ordeal. You know how furniture comes all neatly packed in a box, all perfect, right? We unpacked the box and put all the pieces and Styrofoam aside and then realized that one of the pieces was broken. I thought we could just take that piece back and have the nice folks at Target open a new box and take out the piece for us to exchange. No.

The insisted that we bring back the entire box. Now you know that all those pieces are NEVER going back in that box the way that they came out. It’s just not going to happen. Amazingly, I got all the pieces back in, but no Styrofoam and no wrapping materials. So that ate up a huge chunk of time running back and forth to Target to exchange the desk.

Sunday Paco and I did NOTHING, ok mostly I did nothing. He did laundry. He doesn’t like when I do laundry because he doesn’t like the way I sort the clothes. Whatever. He is free to do it himself. I don’t like when he does laundry because it usually takes him three days. I do it all in like 3 hours.

So that’s all… my long update. You’re all caught up now. Oh, I’m still waiting to take my final exam for my real estate license. I need to start studying for that.

You may not notice much different, other than the cool logo in the upper right… but next time you see me… look closely because I’ll be in HD.

This weekend I didn’t really do a lot. I spent most of Saturday studying and working on my Real Estate license courses. Saturday night I went out to Rainbow. It was kind of a weird night. I really need to start planning my nights out to coincide with the nights TJ DJs, because it’s just not the same when he’s not there. Andy, the owner, is a great guy and super nice, but he plays slower music and the dance floor stays empty most of the night because of it. For the first few hours I didn’t dance much and I was really quite bored.

It got better further on in the night, but I still get to dance as much as I would have like. Although… at one point I really felt like I was about to pass out. I had just finished dancing a bunch of songs and when I came off the dance floor it felt like my heart was going to beat through my chest, I felt like I had block in my lungs stopping me from breathing, and my chest hurt. For a few seconds I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance. Did that stop me from dancing the rest of the night, no.

Sunday I studied all day again and finished my last class. YAYS! I’m so happy to be finished. I really thought it would take me a lot longer. Before I started taking the classes I had thought it would take me until about May or June to finish. Once I started taking the classes I adjusted that to the end of March… and now I’ve finished before the end of February! YAYS!

Sunday night I went to Eric’s Oscar party. That was fun. I spent the evening with my sister and Robert. I think this was the first time that I’ve really enjoyed watching the Oscars. I wasn’t really rooting for anyone in any category, but I was pretty happy with the winners. I really like when people win and are totally shocked and humbled… like when Marion Cottilard won for La Vien en Rose. I really didn’t like that movie, but I thought she was pretty awesome in it… and she was wearing Jean-Paul Gaultier, so she was already my favorite to win.

George Clooney REALLY annoys me. I wish he would just stop acting an disappear. Rene Zellweger’s hair was a tragedy. Nicole Kidman is just too pale. Tilda Swinton looked horrifying, so much so that I felt bad for her. That dress was a train wreck. There weren’t really any outfits that I thought were amazing or too horrible, other than Tilda’s… oh and Cameron Diaz’. Her dress was really wrong and she annoys me which makes it even worse.

I’m done.

Not much has been going on in my life. The bossman and I have been crocheting like obsessed old ladies. I don’t have as much time as he does to do it, so I haven’t finished that many projects, but I had all these new ideas and it makes me crazy that I can’t get started on them all yet. I also need to dedicate more time to finish up my studying and getting my license… which is what I will be doing all day Saturday. I should be able to finish this class I’m in now on Saturday, then have the next one finished by the 8th, and then take my test somewhere around the 17th.

I did not make any new years resolutions, as I never do, but this month I have decided on some goals for the year.

1. Stop reading www.perezhilton.com because he is a horrible person and I really can’t stand him. He’s totally fake, biased, and hideously unattractive. It really bothers me that he spends so much time trashing other people and yet he is beyond ugly. There are plenty of gossip sites that are less hateful and more interesting to read.

2. Get my Real Estate license… which I should have in the next month or so.

3. Lose weight. Duh, isn’t this almost everyone’s goal every year.

4. Stop using plastic bags. They are a huge waste of materials and they create horrible pollution problems. I was very good about recycling my bags when I used them, but now I’ve decided to just stop using them all together. At HEB (our grocery store) you can buy a reusable bag for $0.99. Target and Wal-Mart sell reusable bags now too for about the same price. The Target bags are by far the best because they have a small one that zips itself up into a cute little pouch. I’m not sure if Target and Wal-Mart sell these bags in all markets though. SORRY. I have my bags in my vehicle so that every time I got shopping I can take one with me and use it instead. This includes mall shopping and grocery shopping. NO PLASTIC or PAPER bags!

Here is some good info taken from http://reusablebags.com/ about why you shouldn’t use plastic.

Phase 1: Production Costs

    * The production of plastic bags requires petroleum and often natural gas, both non-renewable resources that increase our dependency on foreign suppliers. Additionally, prospecting and drilling for these resources contributes to the destruction of fragile habitats and ecosystems around the world.

    * The toxic chemical ingredients needed to make plastic produces pollution during the manufacturing process.

    * The energy needed to manufacture and transport disposable bags eats up more resources and creates global warming emissions.

Phase 2: Consumption Costs

    * Annual cost to US retailers alone is estimated at $4 billion.

    * When retailers give away free bags, their costs are passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices.

Phase 3: Disposal and Litter Costs

    * Hundreds of thousands of sea turtles, whales and other marine mammals die every year from eating discarded plastic bags mistaken for food. Turtles think the bags are jellyfish, their primary food source. Once swallowed, plastic bags choke animals or block their intestines, leading to an agonizing death.

    * On land, many cows, goats and other animals suffer a similar fate to marine life when they accidentally ingest plastic bags while foraging for food.

    * In a landfill, plastic bags take up to 1,000 years to degrade. As litter, they breakdown into tiny bits, contaminating our soil and water.

    * When plastic bags breakdown, small plastic particles can pose threats to marine life and contaminate the food web. A 2001 paper by Japanese researchers reported that plastic debris acts like a sponge for toxic chemicals, soaking up a million fold greater concentration of such deadly compounds as PCBs and DDE (a breakdown product of the notorious insecticide DDT), than the surrounding seawater. These turn into toxic gut bombs for marine animals which frequently mistake these bits for food.

    * Collection, hauling and disposal of plastic bag waste create an additional environmental impact. An estimated 8 billion pounds of plastic bags, wraps and sacks enter the waste stream every year in the US alone, putting an unnecessary burden on our diminishing landfill space and causing air pollution if incinerated.

    * Recycling requires energy for the collection, processing, etc. and doesn’t address the above issues. To learn more visit Recycling Can Fix This, Right?

I’m so exhausted. I really wish Paco got out of work earlier so that we could get to bed at a decent hour. I’m so tired!

I have nothing new to report. I haven’t done anything interesting. Last night was game night. We went to Michelle’s house to watch Idol and play Clue. Michelle won both times, but I think only because she’s a big cheater. Poor Robert just couldn’t figure it out and he was so hypnotized by the TV that he couldn’t focus on the game. Eric wasn’t doing so great either, but that’s kind of just the way he is.

I should be studying right now, but I’m so tired that I don’t think I would be able to focus on it and this stuff is so boring that it would probably just put me to sleep.

I watched the Grammys this week. I really think Kanye West is the most annoying and arrogant person. He really think that he deserves every award. And that would be kind of normal if it wasn’t that he throws a full on adult tantrum when he doesn’t win. His acceptance speech was so arrogant too. “It definitely feels good to be home, here at the Grammys. You know we snuck in about four years ago, four or five years ago, and now we basically made this our new place of residence.” He makes me sick.

I recently re-discovered Tom’s Hot Fries. OMG. Why haven’t I been eating this every day? Why did I ever stop eating them?

Ok, I’ve run out of things to say.
