This weekend Paco’s best friend from Mexico (Pati) came to visit. She flew in at 12:30am Friday morning… into San Antonio. Paco went to get her. There was no way I was going to go and then try to get up and be at work at 8am. I don’t function well unless I get my full 8 hours of sleep.

Friday they spent the entire day running around shopping while I worked. Friday night we met up at the apartment and then went to dinner at Cannoli Joe’s. I’m regretting ever telling Paco about that place because I’m not really liking it. I didn’t think their food is all that good, and on top of that, $16 for an Italian buffet (not including drink) is kind of high… considering how much nicer we could eat somewhere else.

What’s funniest to me about that place is that the name is Cannoli Joe’s and yet their Cannolies were NASTY. If you are going to name yourself after a dish, then it should probably be the best dish you make… or at the very least be edible.

After dinner we went walking around the new park downtown, that is currently without a name (http://austinist.com/2007/09/10/help_rename_tow.php). It is a very nice park and it was fun to watch the little children playing in the water and running around screaming like idiots.

We walked up to the look out hill thingy at the park and saw a horrible accident. It happened when this idiot was walking with his 3 year old in his arms and two dogs (NOT on leashes) and another person came walking towards him with a dog (on a leash). The idiot started chasing after his smalls dogs to keep them from getting into a fight with the leashed dog. He leaned over to try to grab the collar of one of the dogs, tripped and dropped his baby head first onto the cement sidewalk. He just picked her up and kept going like nothing had happened even though she was screaming and obviously in pain. IDIOT. Yet another reason why pets should be on LEASHES in public.

When we got to the top of the hill we took some pictures, but they didn’t come out so great because Paco and Pati kept moving. I was trying to take them with the low light setting and I had the camera sitting on a bench so it wouldn’t move, but Paco and Pati kept turning to talk to each other and messing up my shots. I tried some with flashes, but they didn’t work either.

Later that night we went out to Charlie’s. I wasn’t too thrilled with the idea, but I went anyway. It was kind of boring in there. I hadn’t been in FOREVER and it had changed a lot, but it was still basically the same. I was pretty bored actually. I saw quite a few people that I knew, but instead of chatting with them, I just hung around with Paco and Pati, being bored and listening to bad music.

Oh we did run into Tomas and Shannon at Charlie’s and that was pretty funny. Shannon saw me first and then looked at Tomas and said, “Ooooh it’s going to be a fight!” They came over and said hello a little while later. I got a very cold hello from Tomas. It was all pretty funny actually… well for me at least.

We also saw Ivan there, he’s the guy that I used to date who tried to cheat on me with Paco. He said hi to us and Paco and I were both very cordial to him.

I convinced Paco and Pati to leave and go to Oil Can Harry’s and Rain where at least the music might be better. We ended up hanging out on the patio at OCH most of the night until I started falling asleep sitting at one of the cocktail tables. Shortly after that we left. It was pretty crowded at OCH and I saw lots of people I knew, but I was really too tired to be social.

Saturday we spent the day running around shopping. We went up and down South Congress looking at all the stores and taking some pictures. These pictures were taken in Tesoros Trading Company. They had a lot of fun little things to play with. There was also a really fun new candy store that I would like to visit again. They even had SIXLETS! I LOVE SIXLETS!

We had a lot of fun playing in the costume store (Lucy in Disguise). Paco and Pati were playing around and putting things on. I had been there a bunch of times before, so I was a little more tame, but I had fun watching them being silly.

Next it was off to the Capital to walk around and look inside. I had no idea that the Capital was open on the weekends for people to just roam around in. VERY INTERESTING. I was neat being in there and looking at everything. I had only been once before when I was in High School and it was late at night. I received some award, but I don’t remember what it was… and I barely remember being in there.

Later that night we went to dinner with Paco’s mom and brother at Firebowl so that they could see Pati and catch up, then off to Target for a short while, then home to get ready to go to Rainbow! Yay! Good times!

I had a great time at Rainbow. Paco and Pati ended up leaving early because Paco was tired. I was worried that I wasn’t going to have a lot of fun because Robert and Harvey weren’t there, but I did! I danced a lot with Dustin, Marc, Will, TJ, Brian, and some other friends. And unlike last time, I didn’t have any problems dancing or finding the beat!

I felt very “on” and was enjoying dancing so much. Some random straight girl came over and told me that I was a pleasure to watch dance and that her and her friends were really enjoying it. A while later another straight girl came over and begged me to dance with her grandmother because she was visiting from England and wanted to dance with a “REAL COWBOY.” I looked at my friend Will and asked, “am I a REAL cowboy?” He said something like, “Compared to what’s in here, you’re as real as it gets.”

The girl told me here granny could dance, but I didn’t believe it. Straight girls ALWAYS lie when they want something. They always say they can dance or that their friend can dance. It’s my curse. Straight girls ALWAYS come asking me to dance with them or their friends when I go out… and it never turns out that them or their friends can actually dance. I don’t think people realize how awkward it is to two-step with someone that doesn’t know how. It’s pretty painful.

Ivan made an appearance at Rainbow as well! I found that pretty interesting. He NEVER goes to Rainbow and yet after seeing him Friday night he decided to make an appearance. He didn’t come talk to me when Paco was there. He waited until Paco left them came over and asked, “Oh did Paco leave?” As if he didn’t know. He was trying to be all friendly with me and said that he came to watch me dance. Interesting. I guess he’s single again.

Sunday Paco and Pati went to San Antonio for the day. I didn’t go. I was exhausted from working all week, cleaning apartments, going out Friday night, all day shopping Saturday, then going out again. I needed a day to relax. Neither of them had to work Monday, so it wasn’t as hard for them. It was nice to be home alone, watching movies and being a bum… that’s my perfect kind of day.

Oh, so I’ve decided to go fragrance free from now on. I’m waiting until all my products run out actually, but then from now on I want to try only buying fragrance free detergent, fabric softener, soap, lotion, and deodorant. Kristi is fragrance free and she says she feels much better, so I’m willing to try it. I not a big fan of fragrances anyway, so it’s not like I’m going to miss it.

I have really bad allergies and sensitive skin, so maybe this will help me feel better.

One Response to “Fragrance Free”

Loved all of the pictures. The night time ones with the lights is really nice! Sounds like Paco and his friend had a really good time. How long is she staying? Where is she from in Mexico?

Something to say?
