Last night I went to Rainbow. It had been about three weeks I guess. My friend Matt asked me to dance and so we went out on the floor. I had the hardest time dancing. I couldn’t find the beat and I was so off. I kept apologizing because I’m sure it was miserable. I didn’t know what was wrong with me and I thought that maybe it was because I was sober.
The next song happened to be one of my favorites (for dancing), 455 Rocket by Kathy Mattea. I thought for sure that would turn things around and I’d be able to dance again. I was wrong. I was still off. I couldn’t find the beat and every time I did a turn or a spin, I was coming out of it too late and was off beat again. Just before the song ended I realized what was going on.
I couldn’t find the beat because SOMEONE MOVED IT! I am 100% certain that the DJ (Brian) was messing with the beat. I’m not sure if he was doing it intentionally or if the beat was changing because he was trying to set up the mixer to mix it with the next song. I asked around and everyone else was having the same problem as me. I don’t think that it was that he was turning the beat up, I think the beat was changing throughout the song. I can find the beat if it’s just turned up some; I can find it and stick to it, but not if it’s consistently changing.
I had a good time, stayed sober, and danced a bunch. A lot of my friends were out, so that was nice. After dancing Robert and I went to have breakfast at Taco Cabana. Matt, Chad, and Meghan were supposed to join us, but canceled out. The Taco Cabana on campus at 3am is pretty crazy. It’s all students up late partying, or drunks from the clubs. It’s not as scary as the one on Riverside though!
I’m still working on Keep Austin Proud and the store for it. I’ve also decided to open my own store. I got IDEAS! I’m working on my own ideas now. I have a bunch of ideas for t-shirts, unfortunately as soon as I decided to open my own store, I forgot most of them. They will come back to me… I hope.
These next few months are going to be very busy for Paco and I. At the end of this month my friend Kristi is coming to visit us for a few days. Next month is the crazy birthday month. October is the month for my mom, my younger brother, me, Jennifer, Lynn, Heather, and Brenna. And on the 4th, Paco’s friend Pati is coming to visit us from Mexico, for four days.
Before you know it, it’ll be Christmas and New Years again. Time flies when you’re old.
