This weekend I didn’t do too much. I was trying to enjoy my last few days of being unemployed. It’s funny how I wanted to work so bad, but then when it came I was kind of sad about not having my days free anymore. I was just getting used to being home and finding ways to stay busy.
Today was my first day of work and it went well. First days are never really that amazing because you don’t know anything and you don’t really know anyone either. In our office it’s just the three of us, so it’s not like I had people to chit chat with. I was kind of on my own trying to figure things out. The bosses were really nice and helpful though. The lady I am replacing is out on vacation until Wednesday, so I don’t have a lot of training going on yet.
I learned how to do a lot so far, but I know I have a ton more to work on. It seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to be proficient at everything. I know I’m going to have a lot of cleanup to do. It doesn’t seem like the person before me was all that organized. Or actually, I should say she was organized up to most people’s standards, but I’m super picky about stuff and I like things done certain ways, so I know I’ll be reorganizing a lot.
I like working downtown and I like that I have friends downtown that I can have lunch with. I couldn’t really take lunch at 3M because it took so long to get out of the building and there weren’t a lot of restaurants in the area. Now I have so much around and so much to do!
Traffic wasn’t so bad going to work or coming home. Although I’m used to just crossing the street, so yeah 40 minutes of driving is a big change for me. I’m considering moving downtown. I’m going to try to look at apartments this week and see if I like anything in the area. I’m spoiled by having a newer apartment in a nice quiet area without vandalism, break-ins, or any other crimes. So I don’t know if I can actually move to an old apartment in an area where I’ll have to take my stereo face plate off EVERY time I leave my vehicle.
