This has been a very relaxing weekend. Friday night I hung out at home and when Paco came home we went to have dinner at Salsaritas. I think it’s one of Paco’s new favorite restaurants. It’s pretty good, but it kind of makes me uneasy that none of them employees are older than maybe 17. Paco also pointed out that it’s a Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant and all of the employees are white. Whatever… the food is good.
Paco drove, which is unusual because I ALWAYS drive, but since he has a new car I decided to be nice and let him drive. He LOVES his car. It’s cute too because he always calls it our car.
We stopped by the new Wal-Mart in my neighborhood. For being a Wal-Mart it’s not too bad, well, I mean the building is nice and it’s clean, and not over-run with nasty people, but yeah… the merchandise still mostly sucks.
Saturday I woke up at 10ish and spent the day running around shopping and gardening. I planted a few things and threw away all the dead plants from the patio. I also had to empty out all the sand. UGH… carrying all those dead plants and sand down three flights of stairs wore me out.
Saturday night Paco and I went to dinner at Iron Cactus. For some reason he really likes the fajitas there. I like them, but I think it’s so bizarre that many restaurants in Austin make fajitas with a Teriyaki marinade. How can you use TERIYAKI to make Mexican or Tex-Mex food? That’s seriously wrong… but it does taste good.
We watched Flushed Away and it was pretty funny, but not one of the best animated movies I have seen recently. Paco fell asleep during it and woke up talking about, “I want ice cream.” That boy is a fiend for ice cream.
Today I woke up at 10 again and decided to finish up my balcony garden. In total, this weekend, I planted in 27 pots. My hands are so worn and ugly now, I feel like a manual laborer… but my balcony sure looks pretty!
I love having plants everywhere and this year I’m going to take care of them. I used to hate watering because it’s such a pain to walk back and forth into the kitchen to fill up the watering cans, but now I’ve added some attachments to the bathroom sink so I can quickly and easily connect my coiled water hose thingy. I just wish the people that designed apartments would wise up and put electrical outlets and water spouts on patios and balconies.
As much as I hate Wal-Mart, I did buy a lot of plants there this weekend. It’s close and it’s cheap, I can’t help it! I wish my Target had a gardening section, I’d pay a little more not to have to shop at Wal-Mart.
Oooh, I also spent a lot of time at the Home Depot… and my HD always has lots of good looking men. I swear, single women should hang out at the HD and ask random men for help finding things. That’d be a sure way to get dates.
I remember one time I took my friend Anita to the Home Depot (this woman was seriously sheltered for a girl in her mid twenties) and when we walked in she said something like, “I’ve never been in a store that didn’t have carpet or tile on the floor.”
This week should be interesting at work. Everyone will be back in the office, including my new boss. I hope it’s not miserable. Aside from being busy and short staffed last week, it was SO peaceful and nice.
I put in for vacation for March 5th through the 9th, and Paco is off from the 5th through the 11th. We plan on starting off our vacation in San Antonio and maybe going to Dallas for a bit later on.
My vacation hasn’t been approved yet, and I’m kind of worried it won’t get approved and I’ll have to throw a HUGE fit. Dale has had about four and half weeks off in the past three months and Jesse was just off for a week, so yeah… it’s my turn. I haven’t had a week off in YEARS. I think the last time I had a week off was when I went to Orlando with Brenna.
Tonight I’m going to Eric’s house with Paco for an Oscar’s Party. I’m super excited, but not because of the Oscars, but because I’ll be getting a preview of how his house will be decorated for his Hello Kitty birthday party… for which I still need to find an outfit.
Ok, my hands are sore and raw and I need to stop typing. I’m also trying to watch this dumb movie, Blue in the Face, and it’s quite boring.
