I’m finally getting around to posting pictures. I haven’t really been able to do so because I’ve been so busy and my internet is not cooperating at home. The internet works fine, and my computer works fine, but my Airport Express decided not communicate with my modem, so yeah… no more wireless DSL. My modem is on the other side of the room from my desk, so it’s not convenient for me to connect directly to the modem.

This weekend was busy for me as well. Friday I just hung out with Francisco (aka Paco), Saturday I got up early and cleaned all day while Paco was working. I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. I had a little bit of shopping to do as well, but that didn’t take too long. Cleaning wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but it was a lot of work. My stupid mop broke, so I had to scrub my floors by hand… on my hands and knees. Yeah… not pretty.

Saturday night Paco and I watched a movie and chilled out. We watched El Bolla, and it was so incredibly sad. I’m still disturbed thinking about it. On Netflix it’s described as: “Pablo, a 12-year-old boy raised in a violent and unforgiving environment, is embarrassed by his family life and consistently retreats from his classmates. But things change when a new boy at school teaches Pablo about friendship and shows him a different kind of family environment. This poignant film won more than 30 international awards, including four Goyas (Spain’s equivalent of the Oscar).”

It has a lot of child abuse in it, and I don’t normally like to watch ANY violence, especially involving children. It made me super sad, and makes me think about volunteering again, but for some place that helps people from domestic violence. I need to look into that today.

Sunday Paco and I did some shopping and went to see Step Up, which is basically a rehashed version of Save the Last Dance. It was cute, but I didn’t really believe Channing Tatum as a hip hop dancer. He wasn’t all that good and the dance moves were kind of weird. The only great dance scene was the one at the end of the movie. The movie is way more about him and the female lead falling in love than it is about dancing. HMMMPH! Straight people falling in love… it’s been done SO many times…. BORING.

Last night we watched Por La Libre, which was good. I understood more of the Spanish in this movie because it was filmed in Mexico. El Bolla was harder to understand because it was a Spanish film. Por La Libre was actually filmed in Mexico City and Acapulco, so it was even the same dialect that Paco speaks. The movie is described: “When family patriarch Rodrigo dies, it’s up to two polar-opposite cousins to find a way to honor him. While their parents squabble over what they expect to inherit, Rodri and Rico swipe Rodrigo’s ashes, hop into a Mercedes and head for Acapulco, where they hope to memorialize their recently departed grandfather — whom they come to discover was more complex than they ever realized.”

If I had paid more attention I could have learned a lot of slang because the movie was full of it. The two cousins talked a lot of trash to each other and there was a lot of cursing.

Ok, now for pictures… These are some of my favorites pictures from Gina’s Baby Shower 08/12/2006, the rest are here. I really like the one of Citlali in the hallway posing her pink outfit.

My favorites from Dustin’s housewarming 08/12/2006, and the rest are here.

Gina’s baby (Alejandro Javier) was born on 08/15/2006 while I was at work, but here are some photos:
