Not much going on this past weekend, well I say that, but actually I did have a lot going on. Friday night, I can’t even remember. I don’t think I did much. I hung out with Francisco and chatted, but nothing really going on. Saturday was a long busy day. I got up early, did a little bit of shopping and bought myself a nice Puma hat. I was at the mall enjoying myself, when my stupid work phone rang and I had to go home to help a customer because I needed information on my computer. What a way to ruin a good time!
Next up was Gina’s baby shower. The shower was supposed to be from 3 - 5, but I told her I would stop by her place early to check out her house. She recently painted inside and wanted opinions. Then we would go over to her mother’s house to help set up for the shower. So I got to Gina’s at 1:30, hung out for a bit, then off to her mother’s house. Those people are always running late, so of course we had a ton of work to do and didn’t get finished until well after 3.
The guests showed up late, so it was almost 5 when she started opening presents, and I had to take off because I had another party AT 5. I got home by 5:30, Francisco was waiting and we went to Dustin’s Birthday/Housewarming/Welcome Back party. We arrived just as dinner was being served. I forced Dustin to open my present right away because… well that’s just how I am. He liked all his presents and was very amused.
He also had presents for me! How lucky am I? He brought me back a cutting board from Costa Rica, and it’s beautiful! I know that seems like an odd present, but it really is pretty. He also got me a large Eiffel Tower picture that was taken from an interesting angle. I love my presents!
The party was a lot of fun and I learned some interesting things about my friends as we shared our most embarrassing stories. Shocking, but deliciously scandalous, stories. I was surprised at the things people were willing to share. I couldn’t really think of anything to share. I don’t get embarrassed to easy. I shared one from WAY back.
After Dustin’s party, we were supposed to go to a party for Francisco’s work friend (a wedding reception), but he didn’t want to go, so we just went home.
Sunday I got up early and went tubing with Tomas and Oscar. We had a great time! On the way down there we were accosted by a scary redneck. We were driving on this back road behind this truck. The guy was driving with his dog in the bed of the truck, CHAINED to something. Only the chain was long, so the dog had climbed up on top of his truck toolbox and was just standing up there as he was driving about 40mph down the road.
I kept trying to pass him, but he kept moving over to block me. This was a back road with no middle stripe, no shoulders, basically a sealed dirt road. Why was he being such a freak? Anyways… he slowed down and moved over, so I thought he was letting me pass. I started to go around him and he stopped and jumped out of his truck, with his long straggly mullet flapping in the air, and started yelling. Well, I am not about to get all messed up with a mullet having redneck and his dog, so I backed up a bit and he just stood there in the road yelling about something and saying he was going to call the police and pretend dialing on his palm. Maybe that’s a redneck palm pilot?
We were cracking up! What a way to start the day!!!!!
Anyways, so we got out on the water and it was extra shallow, so there was a few times when we had to get up and walk across the rocks. Luckily it was not busy, so we didn’t have to put up with drunks hollering and screaming all day. We had our Tecates, our sal y limon, and our snacks, so we were very content to just sit in our tubes and chillax.
There were a bunch of bold ducks on the river that came over to us begging for food, so Oscar started giving them Cheetos. Poor Javi was all scared he was going to get attacked… and actually one of the ducks did try to jump up in his lap to get his cigarette. I kept trying to convince him to let the duck have a smoke, but he wasn’t willing to share. I reached out to one of the ducks, pretending like I had food, and the dang thing bit me! Accosted by a duck and a redneck in the same day! What are the chances?
I’m telling you, these ducks were BOLD. They were all trying to get up in our laps to get our food. Oscar kept splashing at them to scare them off, and I had to remind him that ducks are waterproof! The ain’t scared of water!
We didn’t get back to Austin until after 8, and I was exhausted. Drinking and doing nothing all day can wear you out! Plus, you know how drinking in the sun dehydrates you and you just get more tired and weak. I am proud of myself though, for putting on lots of sunscreen and not getting burned… and now slightly darked then I was Sunday morning.
Last night I hung out with Francisco and talked about so much crap. Ugh, it was one of those nights were we get to talking and everything comes up and we work things out and feel so much better. Tonight is game night at Eric’s house, so that should be fun.
