Yesterday was a tough day at work, too much stress. The end of July, beginning of August, starts our busiest time of the year and I was short two people yesterday. By the end of the day I was drained. I went home and made myself a big cosmopolitan martini and took a nap.
Francisco came over later and we watched El Espinazo del Diablo (The Devil’s Backbone). This isn’t the kind of movie I would usually watch, because I don’t do suspense and thrillers, but I liked it. It wasn’t as gorry as I thought it would be, and it wasn’t scary either. I only selected it because it has Eduardo Noriega in it, and he is my new favorite actor.
The movie was set in the times of the Spanish civil war, at an orphanage. The boys at the orphanage are all children of republican fighters. One of the boys is murdered and as a ghost, he haunts the new boy. One of the workers at the orphanage (Eduardo Noriega as Jacinto) is up to something and has some secrets. The movie is about what goes down at the orphanage and how the boys get themselves through it. Pedro Almodovar produced the movie and Marisa Paredes (who is in a bunch of his movies) is in it. All of the actors are great in it, and even the kids are amazing.
Tonight is game night with the gang and we are supposed to go see John Tucker Must Die. I am super excited about it!
