Thursday we had crazy rains. It was raining super hard and loud at my apartment… and then it started crazing hailing. Quarter sized hail was coming down in sheets and it was extremely loud. It was awesome to watch though. We even had a flash flood watch, which actually isn’t that unusual. Being that we live int he hill country, any time it rains we are practically on flash flood watch. I just heard on the news that some places are getting grapefruit sized hail. GRAPEFRUIT SIZED! I bet that could kill you.
After the crazy rain stopped at my place, I decided to go to Target. It’s just across the street, so it’s always calling my name. I went in just to get a gift bag for Citlali’s birthday present. What did I end up walking out with? Let me tell you… I bought two gift bags, two packs of Hello Kitty stickers, a lamp, and FIVE vases!
There were these vases that I have been wanting for an eternity. I wanted to buy them back when they were at full price, but I talked myself out of it because… hello! I already have about 120 vases at home. Months later I went back in and the vases we 50% off. I wanted them so bad. I stared at them for a long time before I convinced myself that I didn’t need them. I had to talk myself down.
Well, today I when I saw them, I got excited all over again, and then I saw the 75% off sign. OMG. You can’t pass up 75% off! I almost wet myself. And that’s where I also found the lamp. It matches my new painted walls perfectly. I couldn’t pass it up. It was also 75% off! So I ended up spending $45.44, but if all that stuff hadn’t been on clearance, it would have cost me $151.01! That’s a darn good deal!
The funny thing is that I didn’t even end up using the gift bags that I bought. I had some in my collection that were much better. But if I hadn’t thought I needed the bags, I would never have found these wonderful deals. That totally made my day.
Friday was a super slow day at work. I spent nearly the entire day working on the wedding announcements for Brenna. I really enjoyed that. I’m starting to get all of these great ideas. I need to print some and start making mock-ups.
Friday Ryan found out that he got the job at GSD&M in Chicago, so he’ll be moving in June. He wanted to go out to celebrate. So Dustin, Ryan, and I met up at Dustin’s place for some champagne and then went over to Sao Paulo for some Brazilian food. The cute little Greek boy host was flirting with Dustin, but Dustin would flirt back enough to get us a table faster. He kept saying he was “married” and couldn’t do it. WHATEVER. Had the host been in to me, I would have worked it for everything it was worth.
I had a delicious Goiaba Margarita, and when I ordered it the waitress (Luze from Brasil) asked me if I was Brasilian because I pronounced it perfectly. Score one for me! I don’t even speak Spanish, let alone Portugese. I didn’t do so well pronouncing my dinner though. I ordered the feiajada, but I know how to pronounce it now. Next time… it’s on! Luze and I made friendly inside the restaurant and I might be seeing her out tonight at Rainbow.
Dinner was delicious and we had all kinds of good and scandalous conversation. It turns out that Dustin knows the guy I went out with last weekend and he had some dirt to share. It was pretty gross and alarming, but I shamefully must admit, I still find the boy incredibly attractive.
After dinner we met up with Doug (Dustin’s other half) at Amy’s Ice Cream. Dustin and I drag raced like maniacs the entire way there, trying to pass each other up. Flying through downtown like idiots. DANGEROUS. Yes, I know… I do stupid things. It was a great night and I had a ton of fun, and it was nice to be able to celebrate Ryan’s new job with him.
Today I haven’t done all too much. I woke up early and I watched Pride and Prejudice, the new one with Keira Knightley. I liked it a lot. I thought Keira was a bit too toothy and annoying in a few scenes, but overall I loved her and I loved the movie. I have the other two versions in my Netflix queue as well, I wonder if I’ll like them as much?
After the movie I went to Citlali’s 6 year birthday party. She had the first part of it at the pool and the second part and a pavilion next door. It was kind of slow, but I had a good time. It was nice to be out with the Mexicans. I miss hanging out with the brown people. I have too many white friends now. Boring ass crackers.
I took a ton of pictures of baby Maya and Citlali. I went through them all a minute ago and deleted the bad ones and still ended up with 63. Those kids are just too cute. I normally don’t like other people’s children (not that I have any of my own), but I love Gina’s kids. I got Citlali a bunch of stuff for her birthday. I bought her some Hello Kitty stickers, some Hello Kitty lip gloss, sidewalk chalk, a little purse full of candy, and a Hello Kitty neon sign for her bedroom.
Rey and Sylvia were there. I love them. Sylvia is a damn nut, but she’s so much fun. Rey told me that I was looking like Che Geuvara in my tan hat. Once before when I wore it, Xoch told me I looked like Fidel Castro. It’s amazing to me that being as white as I am, with parents whiter than sheets, I can pass for Latino so easy.
Right now I’m just killing time before I head out to Rainbow for the night. I’m all dressed and ready to go! I’ll post the pictures from the birthday party later. I’m sure you are all anxious to look at pics of some stranger’s kids. ![]()
