I had a great and busy weekend. Friday night I went to a Pampered Chef party with Gina. It was at Michael’s house in Pflugerville. Gina and I sat in the back and just laughed and gossiped for the majority of the time. I’m not really into these kinds of parties, but Gina wanted to go and I wanted to hang out with her, so I went.
I’m not a big Pampered Chef fan, actually, I’m not a fan at all. They have some nice things, but I already have just about everything I need in my kitchen. Gina had decided early on in the night that she might host her own Pampered Chef party, so I decided that if I was going to buy anything I would wait until her party. That’s what friends are for!
There was a guy at the party, Rod, who was adorable and very funny. Gina thought he looked a lot like Tony Montana. He was cracking us up by asking silly questions and I think he was making fun of the host a little bit. He was really cute too. It’s too bad he lives in San Antonio.
After the party I dropped Gina off at home and I headed downtown to meet up with Xoch at Rainbow. We had planned on meeting in the garage where I normally park, but that didn’t happen. That stupid SXSW is in town, it was spring break, and St Patrick’s day, so downtown was crazy out of control busy. All of the parking garages near Rainbow were already full. I drove around for half an hour trying to find a spot and ended up having to park extra far away.
As busy as it was, Rainbow was still kind of empty. It was busier than a normal Friday, but still empty. Dustin had gone out with Doug, and I had Xoch, so I had plenty of extra people to dance with. I had a great time. Xoch and I ditched on Rainbow kind of early and went over to Rain. I was hoping to run into Dezi.
Rain had a line, as usual, so we had to wait. I just feel so stupid waiting in line to get into a bar. It’s DUMB! Xoch and I didn’t have to wait too long, and we had a little fun while waiting. This UBER cute boy, Jory, came over and waiting with us… or more accurately cut in line and stood with us. He was adorable though, so we didn’t care.
Then these fools behind us, drunk fools, kept bumping into us and trying to rush us along. As if we had control on how long the line was taking. One of them, the drunkest of them all, was like, “OMG you look like Tim McGraw! You are sexier than Tim McGraw! Can I take a picture to send to my mom?” I was SUPER annoyed because he was so drunk and touching on me and stumbling. I said, “You know, I look much better from a distance. Why don’t you go down there to the end of the block and take a look?” I don’t think that he got I was being rude to him because he said, “It’s ok I have ZOOM lens!”
I looked at Xoch and said, right in front of him, “I tried but he just won’t go away.” Then his friend started trying to get all chatty with me and I said, “Oh, I’m sorry. I already have a BFF.” Then the drunkest guy started yelling, “Who told them I’m from BFE? I’m not from BFE!” These guys were total idiots.
They stopped talking to me for a bit, then I started feeling someone’s hand on my butt. I turned around and told him the drunkest guy to stop touching me. He didn’t. So I turned around and told his boyfriend to control his man. Drunk people suck!
Rain was crowded, but lame. The people there are too young. The majority of them have to be in their early 20’s and they are over primped, over styled, and annoying. I can’t handle that place for very long, so we went over to Oil Cans and it was DEAD in there. We stopped back by Rainbow for a bit, then just went home.
Saturday I got up late and went to get my hair cut. I stayed for a while hanging out at the salon talking to Joee and Rebecca. I love to hear all the gossip in the salon. People talk about the craziest things with their hair stylists. Actually, Rebecca (my stylist) tells me some crazy things too.
After leaving the salon I stopped at Michaels (the craft store) and bought some stuff to make my own t-shirt to wear out that night. It took me forever to decide on the right letters and style, but I love what I came up with. It’s super simple, but I think it’s hilarious. I got the idea from Ivan’s ex boyfriend, the pirate (Javier) that hates me. When he talks to Ivan about me, he calls me the “pinche bolillo”. I think everyone knows what “pinche” means, and “bolillo” literally means “white bread”, but it’s also a not very nice slang term for white boy. It’d be like calling someone a cracker or honky.
So I made a t-shirt that has bolillo written on it. You can obviously see that from the pic below. I had to take this pic with my cell since my camera is still at the shop.

That humor in my shirt was totally lost on the crowd at Rainbow, mainly because the majority of them are white and don’t speak Spanish. However, the few Latinos that did see my shirt were cracking up. I had several of them come tell me how much they liked it. I found it funny and that’s really all that matters. As long as I’m assuming myself, I’m happy.
Harvey didn’t show up, even though he told me he was going, so I was super disappointed. He’s my favorite dance partner. I had to find alternate dance partners. Luckily Robert was out, he’s a blast to dance with, and there were a few others that I had fun with. Andy (the cute Jewish Andy) and I did a waltz and it was fun. He’s a great dancer, but I usually have a hard time with him because he has a totally different style and he’s very structured.
Seth and I danced a bunch. He’s a great lead, and one of the very few people that I dance with that actually knows how to lead. I’ve been leading so much lately that it takes me a while to get used to following again. I need to practice more before I start to suck at it.
I was in a really good mood Saturday night as well, just being all chatty, friendly, and flirty with strangers. That’s two nights in a row for me. It’s very odd because usually I’m not very outgoing and I’m especially not friendly with new people. I don’t like strangers!
Sunday I woke up extra late, which took work because people kept text messaging me on my phone and waking me up. Within the first hour of being awake I had text message with four different people and had received 45 messages! I’m sure earning those points on my Sprint rewards program!
I spent the day lounging on the couch watching TV. Oh, I watched three movies this weekend. First I watched Just Friends, which I thought was hilarious. That Ryan Reynolds is a funny funny man. I saw Babette’s Feast, a Danish movie. I liked it a lot and that’s surprising since it was such a religious movie. Sunday I watched Walk The Line, which was much better than I had expected. Joaquin does an amazing job as Johnny Cash and his voice is shockingly good. I wasn’t as impressed with Reese’s singing, but she still did really well for someone who’s not a singer.
I’m really getting annoyed with the ABC network. Why do they keep messing with my Desperate Housewives? It’s amazing that this show hasn’t been abandoned by it’s fans yet. They are always either playing re-runs or just not showing it. Last night was another re-run! If they can keep showing new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, why can’t they show more DH?
Speaking of Grey’s Anatomy… that Meredith really gets on my nerves. She reminds me a lot of Ally McBeal, SUPER SKINNY AND ANNOYING. I don’t like hearing her voice narrating the show, and I don’t like seeing her face. She’s incredibly whinny and her voice is too nasally. The other characters are much more interesting and appealing.
Work is still busy. Usually March and April are slow months for us because of Spring Break, but that has not been the case this year. I wonder why that is? Anyways… I need to get back to work.
