I went to dinner last night with M.Lo at Manuel’s. She’s my only friend that likes going there, or at least tolerates it for me. I know she only tolerates it because they have the best Jamaica (hibiscus) Martinis. I really need to find some Liquor de Jamaica so I can make some myself. I could probably do it with Jamaica juice and Vodka, but it would be so much tastier with liquor.
Dinner was delicious, as always. We split the Pollo en Mole con Queso and the Chicken Fajita Black Bean Nachos. OMG so good… like sinfully delicious! The only problem was that they sat us near this big table (like 15 people) and they were loud. I had considered asking to be moved before we sat down, but didn’t. BIG MISTAKE.
There was this loud woman at the end of the table, near us, that was way past annoying. She had this loud high pitched voice that would make your ears bleed, and he laugh/cackle was even worse. Apparently she thought EVERYTHING was funny and EVERYTHING had to be screamed. It was so bad that literally 4 other tables asked to be moved. M.Lo and I were the only tables dumb enough to sit on that side of the restaurant by her.
People everywhere were glaring at this woman and making faces. We complained to the waitstaff and it would have been impossible for the managers not to know about her, yet NOTHING was done to shut her up. So at the end of our meal when the manager came by and asked how everything was, we complained again. M.Lo went off about it on that manager.
He apologized and gave us a 20% off coupon for our next visit, which I think was pretty cheap. He should have given us a free appetizer. I think I’m still going to write a letter of complaint. I understand that it would be slightly embarrassing (for her) and maybe considered rude to ask her to quiet down, but in not saying anything to her, he had 4 table move and many more upset customers. Those waiters that worked that section lost out on money because nobody wanted to sit there. I would have been PISSED.
Work is a little less busy today. I had this horrible rude woman on the phone this morning and I couldn’t stop smiling and cracking up because she was SO mean. I just don’t get how people can be so mean to someone they are expecting help from. This lady called yesterday all upset because she was writing on our transparency film with a marker and it was staining the film. Aren’t markers technically supposed to “stain” surfaces, that’s how they write. The problem was that she wasn’t using our Write-On film, she was using film for printers, which has a coating specifically made to keep ink ON the film. IDIOT.
It amazes me how many times people call in complaining that when they print transparencies on their InkJet printer, the ink never dries. It’s the same problem every time. They are using film for copiers. They even inadvertently admit their problem when they complain. “I’m using this film for B&W copiers in my Inkjet printer and the ink is not drying.” I love to make them repeat it because I know they aren’t going to catch it the second time either. So I ask them again what film they are using and they’ll say, “Film for B&W Copiers.” DEAD SILENCE while I wait for them to figure it out on their own… but they never do.
Then I tell them, “You are using film for B&W Copiers in your INKJET printer. Inkjets use WET ink, copiers use DRY toner. The coating on that film is not meant for WET ink. You need to use film for INKJET printers.” I know that most people wouldn’t normally know why it doesn’t work, but wouldn’t you automatically realize you should try film for Inkjet printers if you are using an Inkjet printer? The box even has a list of compatible devices on the back. If your printer is not listed, wouldn’t that be obvious that it’s not the right film? IDIOTS.
Maybe I’m just jaded from having been here so long?
