Friday night I went to Dustin’s house to meet up with him and his friends and have some drinks and snacks before going to see Brokeback Mountain. Man, it was crazy busy at the theater. You would have thought they were premiering Star Wars, or something like that. It was also a little like being at the club because it was full of the gays and I saw so many familiar faces.

I liked the movie enough, but I expected it to be a little better. I thought it dragged on in some parts. You really get to understand that there is NOTHING to do in Wyoming while watching the sheep, and you get plenty of time to see that on screen. I was also disappointed that for a love story between two men, you get to see more kissing between Heath and Michelle than you do Heath and Jake.

Overall, I liked the movie. It was much more sad than I had expected it to be. You go in knowing that it’s going to be a sad gay love story, but I didn’t expect to be so saddened by seeing what their relationship does to their wives. Anyways, I don’t think I would see it again any time soon. To me, it’s like watching Schindler’s List; once is really enough. Actually, I’ll probably watch it one more time when it comes out on DVD.

Saturday I lounged around A LOT. I napped for hours and hours. Man, that was a great morning just sleeping and sleeping. Some times you just have to take one day and be extra lazy. It feels great!

Saturday afternoon I went over to Gina’s mom’s house for Maya’s second birthday party. I took some pictures (not uploaded yet), but not many because my batteries died. The food was great and I had fun hanging out with Gina and Sylvia, but I could have done without all the screaming children. There should be sedatives baked in birthday cakes, or maybe in a special punch for the children only. That would make for much more tolerable parties.

That night I went out to Rainbow. It was an odd crowd out. Thomas and Mark weren’t out, and they are who I spend the bulk of my night dancing with. It actually kind of worked out well though, because that let me spend the majority of my evening dancing with Waide. I had a great time! I felt like my dancing was a bit off, but not so bad.

My knee started bothering me half way through the night and it became hard to walk, but like always, I kept on dancing. I stayed pretty late because I had plenty of people to dance with and good music was being played. My friend Ricky showed up later in the night, so I did have someone to dance to the bootie music with. I rarely have any to dance with to that stuff.

Sunday I got up early and went to my parent’s house for a pre-Christmas get together. My brother is going to Mexico for Christmas, so we had to get together to exchange presents before he left. I hung out down there for most of the day, then came back home to relax. That’s pretty much it of my weekend.

Hopefully this week will be extra slow at work and I will be able to get a lot accomplished. Most of our calls come from schools and universities, so I’m thinking it should be pretty dead.

One Response to “Brokeback Mountain

Well, damn. Now I barely want to see the movie. :)

Sounds like you lay around sleeping on the sofa all day Saturday would be more exciting to watch.
