The KKK was in town this weekend to support Proposition 2, which bans Gay Marriage in Texas. It was surreal to even think about the KKK in my own town. I know they exist, but it’s still one of those things where you just don’t really believe it’s real. It’s just something you hear about in other towns, or see on TV.
The police had the entire area blocked off. You could barely see them from the barracades. They wanted to make sure that nothing went wrong. It was really lame the way they did it. I heard on the news that the American Civil Liberties Union was thinking of filing a suit against the city for restricting everyone’s access to the area where the KKK were giving their speeches.
It had to be annoying for the KKK as well because nobody was allowed near them. They were basically talking to themselves and the reportes. The news said it was about 100 to 1, meaning for every 1 person that showed up to support the KKK, a 100 was against them.
I love the signs that said, “If you stand with the KKK vote yes on Prop 2.” Nothing says it better than that. How could you support something that the KKK feels so strongly about?
