I want to make this short, but I doubt that is going to happen. This was a long weekend and a lot happened that I want to mention.

Friday was eternal. I was extremely tired and so ready to get home and get in bed. I worked from 7 - 4, then went home and changed to go to the gym. I worked out for an hour, then went home to shower and change again so that I could rush downtown to volunteer for 6th Street for Bourbon Street, which lasted until about 11.

We weren’t that busy at the tent that I was in, but all that standing and the heat really gets to you. I was in charge of t-shirt distribution, which basically means people bought t-shirts and the cashiers yelled the sizes out and I passed the t-shirt to them. Yeah, sounds really complicated right? ;)

People are for serious crazy in this town. I’m talking about just the weird things people wear, say, and do. If you stand in one place long enough you are bound to see some freaky things. Sammy and I were cracking up over this one guy who asked his girlfriend if she wanted to buy a “hurricane shirt”. The shirts were plain white with the words “6th Street for Bourbon Street” written on the front and a graphic (not a hurricane) on the back. It was funny how he said it, like it was some kind of ride at an amusement park.

Sammy and I went to Taco Cabana after volunteering to get some food. That was certainly an experience in the Twilight Zone. Let me start from the beginning on this. Ms Cashier lady had no customer service skills. I went to tell her that both ice machines were empty and all she did was say “ok.” Later she comes over to make coffee (right next to the empty ice machines), ignoring the fact that NOBODY was waiting on coffee, but people were standing around with empty glasses waiting on ice.

The coffee maker starts to overflow and leak all over the place. She looks right at it, then goes to the back to get her stuff and leaves… and goes HOME. Still no ice in the machine at this point. There was this little Latino guy working behind the counter was behaving as if he had Tourette’s syndrome. He kept screaming out weird things like, “I ain’t interested in Taco Cabana!”

Sam’s sister told him that the ice machine was out and the coffee was overflowing, so he screamed out, “BOSS NO ICE. BOSS COFFEE IS OVERFLOWING” and then went back about his business. Did anyone rush out to take care of either issue? No. I told Sam that I should have gone and burned myself on the coffee, or slipped in it, and sued. Freakin’ idiots!

Tourette’s boy called my order number so I went to get my food and started eating. He called out a few more orders then a little while later he called my order number AGAIN. And you know what, I went and got that order and ate it too. I know it’s wrong, but they were stingy with the meat on my first order, and I saw it as payback for having our meal ruining by Tourette’s boy screaming all through it. What’s sad is that I got two orders before he even made Sam’s one.

Saturday I didn’t do too much during the day. I slept in late because I was exhausted, then I watched three movies. I watched Chasing Liberty, Maid to Order, and Town and Country. I liked them all, but none of them really stood out, or were all the exceptional.

Later that evening I went to a pool/movie party at my old apartment complex. M.Lo had invited me. So I went and helped set up the food and then hung out for a bit watching Shrek 2. It was nasty and hot out, so I didn’t stay too long. I went home and showered and changed and headed off to Rainbow.

I almost didn’t go out because I was tired and wasn’t really feeling it. I am so glad that I did, because I had a great time. I had four whiskey and Cokes and never got a buzz, but it did loosen me up and my dancing was totally on. Some nights I feel like I just catch find the rhythm and I can’t get in sync with my partners, but this night was totally on.

Mark wasn’t out, and Thomas had on sneakers, so I had to branch out and dance with other people. I danced with Lee, Dustin, Will, Doug, some random hot bald guy, some straight girl, Fernando, Harvey, Chad, and Andy B. Some random straight girl came up to me to tell me that her and her friends had been watching me all night and they thought I was the best dancer there. It’s funny that when girls come to talk to me there, they always have to announce that they are either straight or gay. Um? Does it really matter? Either way, you’re still a woman.

Sunday I went to a Big Brothers Big Sisters Volunteer Appreciation Party. I went to pick up Dante, his brother Preston, and his sister Lichandra. They were cracking me up in my truck because they only wanted to listen to Mariah Carey and they were all singing along as loud as possible.

The event was ok, kind of fun. It was at the Texas Disposal Systems Exotic Game Ranch. They had a bunch of fun animals to see and we got to eat some Pok-E-Jo’s BBQ and play games. There’s not really much to tell about the event. I took a bunch of pictures, but since my hosting company still hasn’t restored my gallery folder, I can’t post them yet.

We left the event around 5, and the ride home was again all Mariah Carey sing-a-longs. We got to their Aunt’s apartment (they live with her) and nobody was home. She didn’t leave a key at the apartment and she didn’t answer her cell phone.

I waited there with them for an hour and a half before she finally showed up. I had never met his aunt, so I just said hi and told her that I was already extremely late for another function and that I had to go.

I headed off to Dustin’s and I had a great time. We played games and had drinks and it was a lot of fun. He lives pretty far south too, so I had a quite a lot of driving to do yesterday.

I got home at 11 and went to bed. Hopefully this will be a good week.
