Gina called me at work yesterday and invited me to go with her to The Main Event with her and her family after work. I had more fun than I expected, in fact, I had more than I’ve had in a long long time.

We got in on a special deal and had unlimited games, miniature golf, bowling, shows, laser tag, and rides. We took full advantange of that. We watched all of the 3D movie things where the seats move. We watched one (Arctic Crush?) twice because it was awesome. We were cracking up because the seats were shaking like crazy and all of our fat was jiggling. On one ride, you had to lean back in the seat and when it started shaking the hardest, our necks were jiggling. Ok, now I’m by far not fat or even overweight, but it felt like a lot was jiggling in the neck area and it just didn’t feel right at all. It was quite gross! We were glad nobody was standing around watching us.

We played a bunch of video games, because we had the unlimited games… and that unlimited business will seriously change your life. We would be in the middle of a game and just walk off because we knew it was free, and some of those games were like $3 each. We were running around from game to game. I’m not usually into video games, but I do like the race car games, and we played a lot of those.

We tried the Dance Dance Revolution thing and sucked bad. I don’t think we gave ourselves enough time to figure it out. We were too into playing the snowboard and skateboarding games.

Lisa (Gina’s sister) and I played air hockey and then we started playing Tom’s EXTREME air hockey… which basically means I found an extra puck on the floor, so we played with both at the same time. It was crazy. It’s hard enough following one of those flying pucks, and two just make your eyes freak out.

We also did some bowling and I bowled one of my best games, a 185! I got a spare, followed by four strikes in a row, then a spare. They actually have really nice lanes. They also have that glow in the dark bowling, which is always fun.

At 10pm they make everyone under 18 leave, and that’s when Gina and I went really crazy. Her family had left by then, so it was just us running around like kids playing everything we could. I had two of the unlimited games cards in my pocket and I kept having to switch between them because otherwise I would get locked out with the error “too many consecutive plays on this card”.

Gina and I were figuring we must have saved over $100 each with those cards because we really did abuse them to the best of our ability. We stayed until 11:30, and probably would have stayed longer if her husband hadn’t started calling looking for us. I don’t know what I was thinking being out that late on a work night. You know how I need my full 8.5 - 9 hours of sleep every night. Today is not going to be pretty for me… I didn’t get to sleep until almost 1.

One Response to “Main Event”

The laser tag is fun. The kids get SO aggressive….have to keep stopping and thinking “ok…they’re just kids” while muttering “I’m gonna take you out sucka”… :)

Something to say?
