Last night I redecorated my apartment and I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am about how it turned out. In fact, I will begin to tell you and you will read this with breathless anticipation.
I had talked to Jorge on Wednesday night because he kept calling my home phone, (which I never answer, the ringer in the bedroom is turned off, and it doesn’t have caller ID) and I figured it must be someone I know because it was 10:40pm and it kept ringing and ringing. I had been wanting to redo my apartment for a while but hadn’t found the inspiration. While talking to him I realized he could help me redecorate.
Anyway, so he came over last night and we went shopping for some new things. I had told him that I wanted to try to work with what I already had because I already have too much stuff. However, it’s Jorge, and he loves to shop and he was not hearing what I was saying. So there we were at Target browsing and he kept telling me, “You should just give me money and let me go buy everything and see if you like it.”
HAHAHAHAH, as if that was going to happen! You see, the thing about Jorge is that he is a little over the top and he decorates as if he’s setting up for a Pottery Barn catalog shooting… which would be great if I wanted to live in a catalog (which is what his place looks like), but it’s not practical and it doesn’t feel very comfortable. I, on the other hand, decorate too practical and everything has to be symetrical. When we work together, I tone him down and he makes me try new things, so we balance each other out.
I bought a few new things (rug, candles, pillows) to bring in some color and change the theme. I brought out some stuff from the closets (and from the cabinets, and under the bed) and I put a lot of stuff away. I put A LOT of stuff away. It looks much cleaner and simpler in my apartment now, and I love it. I am not completely finished, but I have a great start. Tonight I will watch movies and finish working on the living room, then move to working on the bedroom.
Hopefully work will go by fast today. I was up until midnight working on my apartment, so I’m mucho tired today!
