Ugh… I just got home from International Night (which is really just Latino Night, but they call it International because they play music from Colombia, Peru, Mexico… all of Latin America) and it SUCKED. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The DJ was horrible. He kept playing these weird songs that I can’t describe other than to say there were regional sounding, or pura Mexicana!.
He only played a few of my favorites, and most of the stuff he played I didn’t even know. He also played WAY too many bad cumbias. The only highlights of the night (musically) were getting to dance to Paulina Rubio’s version of Fotos Y Recuerdo, Ana Barbara’s Loca, and The Kumbia Kings remix of Baila Esta Kumbia. He played India’s version of No Debes Jugar, but Rico Suave didn’t want to dance to it because he doesn’t really like salsa.
I also learned some line dance to Carnavalito, which is probably the most simple line dance ever choreographed. Fernando was all excited about it because it’s a Peruvian song and he’s from Peru. The version they played is much better than the one I have, which is a more traditional version.
I ran into a lot of people I haven’t seen in forever… some good, some not. I saw my original stalker, Mario. So funny that he used to freak me out and now it’s all “Hola MARIO!” and then lots of hugs. Then my other stalker, Rene (the one that climbed my balcony at 2am and banged on the windows demanding I let him in), was there. I avoided him as best as possible and told Fernando to keep him away from me because he STILL freaks me out. He was there dancing with Moses (the beautiful Moses) which really annoyed me because I couldn’t spend time looking at him without Rene seeing me, so I just had to avoid looking anywhere near them.
I also ran into Ivan, whom I have been thinking about A LOT recently. So it was nice to see him. Jimi was there with Waylan, so I didn’t spend too much time near him. I didn’t even get the chance to dance with Jimi…. sadness.
Fernando and I ditched for a bit and went to Rain (which sucked) and then to Oil Can Harry’s (which sucked and smelled like vomit… as always), but at least the A/C was on like 65degress in OCH, so we stayed long enough to cool off. Andy REALLY needs to get the A/C fixed at RCC, it’s ridiculous hot in there. We went back to RCC just in time for me to dance to Fotos Y Recuerdos which has been at the top of my iTunes playlist ever since Javi found it for me. I don’t think Fernando was enjoying it, but I was living it up!
After that we ditched and he took me to my car since I parked like 3 blocks away and up a hill. I wasn’t in the mood for all that walking after all that dancing and near heat stroke. It’s time for bed now!
PS: I guess even though it sucked, it was nice hanging out with Rico… so that’s a plus.
