Last night Javi came over and we watched The Amazing Race, and it was SO good. I cannot believe that the old people have gotten so far, and are now in second place. I was cracking up so hard over Rob and Amber thinking they were in first and ending up being in third place. Ha ha! That’s some serious karma coming back on them. I really wanted a zoom up on Rob’s face when he found out, but no… we got a shot from the back of the head. It was sad watching the show without Alex and Lynn.

I did not get much sleep last night. I couldn’t fall asleep, and then…. AND THEN… the stupid fire alarm was beeping. Seriously, my building is cursed with fire related incidents. The building has been on fired twice already in the past year. Then two weeks ago (maybe a week), I woke up because I saw fire truck lights outside. I woke up exclaming, “Tell me my building is not on fire AGAIN!” Luckily (well, for me…) the fire truck was just there until the ambulance arrived.

Well, last night I was in and out of sleep at 2am when the fire alarm started beeping. Again, I prayed my building was not on fire AGAIN! I got up on a chair and looked at the one in the bedroom, but it wasn’t that one. I moved out into the hall to discover it was that one. I climbed up on a chair and pulled it off the ceiling. I disconnected the electrical cables from it and put it on the entertainment center. As I walked away it beeped again.

I picked it up and started examining it, trying to see if there was a battery pack. I found the battery pack and removed the 9volt. I put it back on the entertainment center and started walking away. It beeped AGAIN! How the heck was this thing beeping when it’s been unplugged and the battery has been removed? I decided to put it in the kitchen, wrapped up in a dish towel, hoping that would silence it enough for me to get back to sleep.

I got back in bed and started to doze off, but I could still hear it… LOUDLY. I tried to ignore it, but there was no luck. I started thinking of what to do with it, and it occured to me that this was just like the episode of Friends when Phoebe can’t shut off her fire alarm, so she smashes it to pieces and throws it down the garbage shoot… only to have it be delivered back by a fireman.

I started thinking that I could put it in the washing machine, the dryer, or maybe the microwave to silence it. I got up and went into the kitchen and ended up shoving it in the fridge. I figured that was the most sound proof place to put it.

I got back in bed and started to doze off… and I could STILL very fainlty hear it, but luckily it wasn’t enough to keep me awake. I was for real about lose my mind last night.

I feel bad today because I woke up too late to shave and my big bosses are going to be in town today. Shameful. Oh well, pity for me. The bosses are taking us all out to dinner tonight at the County Line. Yays! I love free food and drinks!
