Friday night was nothing but busy busy busy, but I had a lot of fun.
I went shopping after work and I bought a new stereo for my SUV. It plays regular CDs, MP3s, and WMAs… but the most important feature is that it has an auxiliary input! I can now plug my MP3 player into my stereo and have full access to all of my music! Yays! Oh but wait, I’m jumping ahead of myself.
So I bought the stereo and was hoping to get it installed that same day but they said they couldn’t do it same day because my SUV has an amp in the back and they have to take everything apart to re-wire all eight speakers. BLAH! I had to make an appointment to get it done on Saturday.
After running around, I went to pick up Brenna and we went to dinner at Kenichi. I had never been there before and Brenna was worried that I wouldn’t be able to find anything I liked on the menu. Yays, I found Teriyaki chicken, and it’s the ONLY thing I found that I would eat. Waiter boy was being the extra weirdness. He was all close talking me and ONLY talking to me. He was practically ignoring Brenna, and she was looking cute, so that’s just wrongness.
I went to the restroom, which was an ordeal, let me tell you. The signs on the doors do not specifically state which sex they are. One door had two fish pointing up and one door had two fish pointing down. Um? How am I supposed to know which fish I am?!?!?!? I stood there for a while feeling pressured and stupid, then took a guess and decided the two fish pointing up kind of looked like an “M” and the ones pointing down kind of looked like a “W”… and yays for me, I was correct!
Anyways, when I came back Brenna was eating some Edame. I assumed she had ordered it. Moments later, Waiter (obviously homosexual) came over and asked us (while looking only at me), “If I bought you some Saki, would you drink it?” We told him we would, so he sent some over. That Saki was some serious boiling hot, but it was tasty and kind of reminded me of Mezcal.
Later on Brenna noticed we were the only table with Edame and she said, “You know, they just came and delivered this. I didn’t order it. I assumed it was free, like chips and hot sauce at a Mexican restaurant… because some Sushi places do that, but now I’m noticing nobody else has Edame on their table.” How did we get lucky enough to get free Edame and Saki?
It was so odd. Waiter wasn’t being flirty, other than close talking me, so I don’t know what was going on… but I wasn’t going to complain about it!
So I had rice and Teriyaki chicken. Everything was DELICIOUS, but the rice was phenomenal! That’s honestly the best rice ever. You might be thinking, “It’s JUST rice.” and you would be wrong and crazy. This rice was so good and it was the perfect mushiness, saltiness, and stickiness. YUM! Brenna also ordered some fried shrimp rolls, which were delicious, but mainly cuz I love the rice and the seaweed. I could seriously be happy just eating rice rolled in seaweed. YUMS!
After Kenichi, we went to Rain for a bit and had two drinks. I ordered a Whiskey and Coke, and as usual… I got only the Whiskey… a big glass of WHISKEY. It was giving me the warm and fuzzies. Then I had some weird Martini and it was delicious… but only after my tongue denumbed from the Whiskey overload.
Next on the tour of downtown bars was Apple Bar! I went to the bar to order Martinis for us and got ignored for an eternity. WRONGNESS. That is one of the worst things (for me) about straight bars. I’m not used to having to wait to be waited on! I love my gay bartenders because the take my order first even though I wasn’t first and they give me free drinks. Straight boy bartenders ignore me.
We had one Martini there and then we were splitsville! We stopped into RCC for a short short bit so that I could pee, but we ended up making one trip around the dance floor before we ran up out of there and headed to Emos. We went to Emos to watch Cruiser Weight, TheCutAway, and this other band that I can’t remember. Brenna and I bought Cruiser Weight’s CD so we could get the cheap cover. Yays!
I figured I’d give the CD to my little brother. He really likes that Punk Rock stuff. Oh, I also got the CD autographed and signed to him. He should be excited about that, although he won’t show it cuz he’s a teenager and they don’t do excitement. April 8th is another show and I’m going to see if he wants to come see it. It should be all ages, just like last night and I think he would really enjoy it.
We hung out at Emos for a long time, then headed home… but got sidetracked. We stopped in at Spiros for a bit. (I KNOW! That place is SUPER GHETTO to the MAX). I was really feeling like dancing to some Hip Hop and Rap, so we went in there for a bit. I was seriously sure we were going to get stabbed… being two out of like five white people in the entire establishment. Brenna made nice with a few boys while I danced with her and by myself a little… all the while just waiting for someone to pull a gun or a knife out. SCARY times up in there!
After leaving Spiros we stopped in at the Red Eyed Fly for 80’s night. That was so much fun. While I was jamming out to all those fun 80’s songs I was thinking my sister would have had a blast in there. They were playing all of her kind of 80s music from all those John Hughes movies and stuff like that. I should find out when they are doing that again on a weekend and convince her to go.
I ended up getting sick in Red Eyed Fly, not drunk sick though! I just couldn’t breathe. The smoke finally got to me and I felt like I was going to pass out. I was getting all hyperventilated and light headed so I had to go outside. I ended up leaving shortly after, and Brenna got a ride home with someone else. No, I didn’t ditch her. She knew I was leaving!
Today I got up early and dropped my SUV off to get the stereo installed. Brenna met me at Circuit City and she drove me around looking at apartments. The first one we went into was dumb. The apartment was really old looking and the lady showing it was all kinds of loud and obnoxious. The thing that really turned me off about the place was that they up charged for everything. The bottom of the rate sheet had a list of things with extra charges.
Extra monthly charges:
1st floor = $10
Fireplace = $10
Second floor top = $10
Vaulted ceilings = $15
W/D Hookups = $20
Pool View = $20
Remodeled Cabinets only = $20
Scenic View = $25
Berber Carpet = $25
Fully Remodeled Apts = $60
Seriously, isn’t that insane!?!?! And the W/D hookups were only available on ONE model and the hookups were out on the patio in the shed. I don’t want to be walking outside to the patio every time I do laundry! Can you see me out there when it’s like 30degrees outside? OH NO! So the model I wanted was $660 a month, plus I want 3rd floor vaulted ceilings ($10 extra) and W/D connections ($20 extra) and I would have to have the full remodel because those apartments were UGLY ($60 extra), which would make it $750 a month. Which I guess isn’t so bad, but the whole up charge thing and the W/D on the patio thing, just annoyed me.
That apartment was 828sqft and I’m in 870sqft right now. I currently pay $659 ($559 rent + $100 for my garage). My rent will go up to $605 if I stay here another year, not including the garage. So if I give up the garage (oh the PAIN), my rent would be going down $54. That’s a pretty good deal.
We went to lunch after that and then stopped by another complex (The Arboretum at Stone Lake). I didn’t need to see a model because I had looked there before. It’s really nice, but I would have to downsize to a 681sqft apartment for $621 a month (it’s actually $649, but you get half a month free and it prorates down to $621). It’s in an great area.
I just don’t know if I want to go through the hassle of moving. I love my apartment, I just hate the location. I’m not going to find anything this nice closer into town for this cheap. Although, the guy at The Arboretum at Stone Lake said their prices were going down, so maybe they will go down enough for me to decide to move. As it stands now, I may just end up staying here and maybe I’ll switch from a Garage to a carport?
After looking at the last apartment I went to pick up my SUV at Circuit City. I had called them and they said it was finished. That annoyed me because they assured me twice that they would call as soon as it was finished, and they didn’t. After picking it up, I was driving to M.Lo’s office to see her and Brenna was following me. On the way, I noticed what looked like an eyelash on my new stereo’s faceplate. I tried to wipe it off and realized it was a SCRATCH. OH NOES!
I called up the service department and told them that I had just picked up my vehicle and there was a scratch on the face plate. The guy says, “Oh… really” then there was a long dead silence. I’m sure he was waiting for me to say what I wanted, but I was waiting for him to do the right thing and just offer to replace it. Finally he gave in and said, “Just bring it back and we’ll swap it out.”
They are just lucky that it has a removable face plate because I would have made them rip that thing out and replace it! I get to the shop and the guy asks to see the scratch. He looks at it, chuckles, and says, “Oh, that’s nothing.” Oh hell no. My first thought was, “Let me put a scratch up on your damn face and then you can tell me if that’s nothing!” Luckily, Mr Manager was standing right there and he cleared things up before I had to maul that ignorant fool. They swapped out my faceplate and I was on my way.
Anyways… after the short short visit with M.Lo (she was busy showing apartments to people) and the trip back to Circuit City, Brenna and I went to lunch (2nd time in one day) with her friends at Magnolia, although B and I didn’t eat this time. We just hung out with them and chatted. After that I dropped Brenna off and then started heading home when M.Lo called and demanded I go back to see her and have drinks. So I went to YET ANOTHER restaurant and ate again.. although this time I had a nice alcoholic drink as well.
I hung out with M.Lo at Cozy Mel’s and we got all caught up. Then I drove home and sat in the parking space in front of my garage playing with my stereo… which was better than my original idea of pulling into the garage, shutting the door and playing with the stereo… until I died from carbon monoxide poisoning. Luckily I realized how stupid that was before I did it. Darn near killed myself today!
I loves my new stereo! I just want to sit out in my baby all day and play with the stereo. It’s so much fun! After playing with that for a while, I came in and took a nice long nap, then went to Hollywood Video to rent some movies, started this journal entry, and then I’ll probably go to bed.
