I went home and napped after work. I’m always trying to get in extra sleep on Tuesdays because I know I’m going to get home late from bowling and be shorted on my night’s sleep. I picked up Andrea and we went to Best Buy to kill time. I found some SanDisk MultiMedia Cards for $29.99 that I could use in my MP3 Player. I need to go today and pick up two. Yays!

Andrea tried to talk me into buying a new MP3 player. She’s wicked like that. I almost fell for it, but I held out and stayed strong!

We (Michelle, Andrea, and I) decided to eat at the Pluckers on 183 and Burnet. We met there at 6:55. The service was horrible. We sat and waited for a table for 35 minutes. We watched dirty unoccupied tables go uncleaned for extended periods of time while we waited for a table of our own. The wait staff was just standing around, or talking to their friends in the bar area, instead of cleaning these tables… despite the large amount of people waiting in line to get one.

The hostess spent most of the time talking to her friends in the bar, when she could have been busing tables. While we waited, I watched a waitress take a pitcher of water to a table, take the lid off and set it on a dirty table, pour some water, then put the lid back on. I watched her do this several times.

After the wait time started to take too long, and we noticed that people that came in AFTER us were being sat before us, I went to the hostess stand to see where my name was on the list. I was surprised to see three names crossed out after my name. We had been skipped!?!?! We had a pager, why was it never paged? When I asked her about it, she said, “You’re next.” Oh really? Is that because you just got busted skipping us? Was she seating friends first? There seamed to be a lot of friends of the staff in the restaurant.

As we continued to wait, I saw the hostess clean a table in the bar to seat her friends. I found this odd for two reasons; 1) She dropped the paper towels on the floor as she was cleaning, stepped on them, then picked them back up and continued wiping down the table. 2) If she could clean these tables, why wasn’t she cleaning the four empty tables in the main dinning area so that all of us waiting could have dinner?

A few minutes later the hostess walked by and stuck her hand out for me to give her the pager… no apology… no words, and then walked to the hostess stand. All three of us (in my party) thought she was extremely rude. Then she came back and took us to our table, where we continued to wait FIVE minutes before anyone came to take a drink order or greet us. By the time the waitress came to our table, it was 7:38. We arrived in the restaurant at 6:55.

The manager (Henry?) did voluntarily come to check on our table (and others) to see what was going on. When he approached the table he said, “Oh I see another table without food on it.” I imagine this was because the restaurant was full (with a line waiting) and there were a lot of people that just got sat, thanks to the wait staff finally cleaning of what was now FIVE dirty tables that had been sitting for over ten minutes, yet the kitchen probably had no orders waiting.

Henry offered us some free fried pickles after we told him of our ordeal. We accepted the pickles, which weren’t all bad. He came back later to check on us and asked how the pickles were. I said that were ok, then he went into some story that included our favorite quote of the night, “I wasn’t raised on pickles.” Yes folks, he blurted that out while talking about how he didn’t grow up eating pickles. We were all glad to know he wasn’t raised on pickles. Is anyone actually RAISED ON PICKLES?

Bowling wasn’t as bad as I thought. The Lesbians were fun and friendly… LOUD, but at least friendly. They were a little scary though. One of them was bowling with a NASCAR ball. NASCAR! One of the other ones had a Leatherman on the belt. Really? Was she about to bust out and build something?

I said that I didn’t think we would win, but I was secretly optimistic about it. Oddly enough we did really well. The first game we won by only three points and I bowled 26 points above my average, to get a 151! I was the only person on my team to bowl above average in that game. The second game we won by 55 points! I bowled 40 points above my average, to get a 165! Andrea also bowled well, bowling 25 points above her average and getting a 119. The third game was not as good. None of us bowled above our average. I bowled 15 points BELOW my average. We ended up losing that game. The good thing is that we won the match, so we got 5 points! YAYS!

That is all.
