I woke up really late yesterday, like at 2. Which I guess was good because then I didn’t have to kill much time before the NYE celebrations. We had dinner reservations at PF Changs at 6:30, so I left a bit early and went to Ryan’s to pick him up and give him his Christmas presents, which he seemed to enjoy. Then we swung by Brenna’s to meet up with her, Ty, and Sammy to head on down to Changs.
I’m glad we made reservations because it was starting to get really busy. Ryan was all kinds of excited because stupid waiter asked, “Is everyone here over 21″ and believed us when we said yes. So Ryan got to order a drink like a big boy. I had two martinis and they were delicious and I got a tad little buzzed from them.
Dinner was yummy. I had the Mongolian beef and I mixed it with a bunch of rice. I was going to order my usual chicken fried rice with no veggies but I decided I could get that anytime, and not every place has the delicious Mongolian beef. Dinner was fun and I’m glad everyone got to show up, I wish Steve (UK) had been able to show up. ![]()
After dinner we dropped Ryan off at home, and then dropped Brenna and Ty off on Sixth Street and Sam and I went to Charlie’s and foolishly paid the $10 cover to get in. We don’t even like paying the normal $5 cover to get into Charlies! Generally all Austin gay bars have no cover, Charlie’s is the only one that regularly has a $5 cover on Friday and Saturday night, of course they have $1 drinks on those nights so you can make up the difference.
Anyways… Charlie’s was lame, so we decided to go to Davis and Jana’s party for a while and then head back downtown in time for the count down. The party was just getting started so there weren’t that many people there. We didn’t stay as long as we had planned because there wasn’t much going on there, so we headed back downtown and met up with Steve (UK) at Rainbow. It was really busy in there, which I did not expect.
We didn’t stay there long either. We tried to get Steve (UK) to go with us to Charlie’s but he felt some obligation to some little single boy he had run into at Oil Can Harry’s, so he wouldn’t go. I just talked to him a few minutes ago and he was telling me how much he regretted running into that boy… I wish he would have just come to dinner with us.
We stayed all of ten minutes at Charlies and decided we should go back to the party to be with friends at the count down. Neither of us really new anyone at Charlie’s, so it just seemed right. I really wanted to connect back up with Brenna, but that didn’t seem to be happening.
So we celebrated at Jana’s with her, Rose, Kelly and the others. It felt a little odd and sad to not be surrounded by all of my friends or at least some family on new years. Not that these people aren’t my friends… Sam is my friend, but the rest of them I consider more to be his friends. None of my good friends were out.
Anyways, Sam was ready to go home shortly after the countdown, so I dropped him off at his car and went back to Rainbow. Things started picking up for me then. I wasn’t planning on dancing because my shoes weren’t cooperating with the sliding motions of the two step, but I figured dancing is what makes me happy, so I should do it anyways. Of course I was feeling a thousand times better once I started dancing, so I’m glad I went back to RCC.
I danced a bunch with David and Juan, and my shoes kept causing me to step on Juan, which was pretty funny to me. I stayed hanging out with Juan all the way up to the time they flipped the lights on and basically told us to go home. On the way to the parking lot I got attacked by some straight ladies on the cross walk. I was half way across when they yelled at me to wait for them. I stopped in the street, then one of them told me to turn around (so my back was to her) then she ran up and goosed me. They was 5 or six of them all trying to flirt with me. It was pretty funny.
It was fun wearing that hat I bought, and people seemed to like it… as I got hollered at a several times walking down the street. Oh, although one lady gave looked me up and down as I passed her and totally gave me stank face, which just made me laugh.
I didn’t end up getting to bed until 5am, so I didn’t wake up until almost 3 today. I made myself some lunch and I’m about to run to the mailbox and go pay my rent. I spent way too much money last night on parking and dinner and that stupid $10 cover at Charlies. So not worth it! Juan asked me if I was going to go out tonight, but I don’t really see that happening. I would rather stay in and watch movies.
Well, here are some pics from NYE. I’m sad that I didn’t get any pics with Brenna. Hope everyone had a nice time.
