Friday night I went home and was going to nap for a while, then go to Scott’s birthday party. My nap got interrupted by Andrea calling to invite me to dinner with her and Ryan. We went to Opal Divines and it was ok. The waiter pretty much ignored us all night. It’s only the second time we’ve eaten there, and well all felt sick again afterwards. I guess we won’t be eating there anymore.
I dropped off Andrea and Ryan at his place afterwards and went to Scott’s birthday party. There were a ton of people there, I thought I had the wrong place because there were so many cars parked out front.
The party was a little slow. I danced a lot, but the music wasn’t that great. I basically spent the time chatting with Fernando, Xoch, and Jessica (pictures posted at the end of this).
Fernando told me that I had already missed “Headof Payne” perform, so I was thrilled! Unfortunately, she had two sets and performed again.
I wasn’t too sure about the outfit I had worn, so I was a little nervous about showing up, but then I got lots of compliments on it. Oddly enough, most of the compliments came from black women… which I actually take to be a bigger compliment.
After “Headof” finished performing the DJ played lots of old school R&B (like from when I was in Junior High and High School), so that was a blast to dance to. Even though like nobody else was dancing, I didn’t care. I forced Xoch to go dance with me (she was too drunk to care) and we danced by ourselves. She was cracking up because I knew all the words to all the old rap songs and was singing along.
We left the party around 11, and we went around saying our goodbyes to everyone. This straight guy stopped me to introduce himself and he said, “I just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed watching you dance all night. It’s not very often that a white guy can dance better than the black guys.” This coming from a black man, totally made my night.
We (Fernando and I) left the party and went to Charlie’s. We happened to park in the garage at the same time, and so did Kiko. I hadn’t been to Charlie’s on a Friday in longest time. I was pleasantly surprised that there weren’t very many familiar faces anymore. We pretty much spent the entire night on the dance floor. I was wearing myself out.
Fernando was complaining about being tired, but Kiko and I were still having a blast and full of energy. I’m not old YET! We left there around 2am and I walked Fernando and Kiko to Fernie’s car and then said goodbye.
So that was my Friday night.
Saturday I got up kind of late (11) but woke up earlier than I wanted because my sister called. We made plans to go bowling, with the rest of our team. So she came over and we went to pick up Andrea to have lunch first. Ryan was still asleep and we weren’t sure he was going to show up.
We had lunch at Hyde Park Bar and Grill. Lunch was yummy and that’s about all I have to say about it.
We headed over to the bowling alley and stopped at Walgreens to get some snacks. I bought some Razzles and some Red Vines. The weird cashier lady was all trying to be our friend and was asking what Razzles were and then said, “I’m tempted to ask you to open it and give me one so I can taste it.” I ignored her because I’m not sharing my candy with some weird stranger!
Ryan met us at the bowling alley afterwards and we bowled two games. We were all tired and not really into it. I was feeling a little sick from eating too much candy and the inhaling mass quantities of smoke from the alley.
Ryan and Andrea split off to go furniture shopping, and Michelle and I went to the store to buy groceries for the party. I am having a white trash themed party, so we wanted all kinds of white trash food. We were running out of ideas and struggling with what to make.
I saw this lady that was really poorly dressed and pointed her out to Michelle. “She is so white trash”, she said. Then I replied, “Oooh, let’s go look in her cart and see what she bought!”
We didn’t really get any ideas from looking in the carts of the trashy people… unfortunately. I think we ended up with some good ideas though. I think it will be fun.
I went home and napped after the shopping, then Sammy came over and we went to Rainbow. I had a ton of fun. I danced a lot, chatted a lot, and all that business. Kiko was there but Fernando was not. Kiko’s friend Felipe was also there. I talked to him for a bit, and even asked him to dance.
Anyways… I had a good time. I got up late again today and I’m just bumming around before I head over to my sister’s to get ready for my birthday party. Yay!
I will take millions of pictures! I hope a lot of people dress up in the white trash style, cuz it’ll be FUNNY.
Oh I saw a funny bumper sticker this weekend (pointed out by Andrea) that said, “I like kids, but I can’t eat a whole one.” Hilarious.
