Saturday morning I woke around 10am and decided to make some CD’s. There was a bunch of songs that I’ve been hearing lately that I’ve just had to have. The one in particular is, “Big and Rich - Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy“. I just love that song. (See my Entertainment Journal for more info)
Brenna drove in from Victoria and we went shopping. She was displeased that I wasn’t enthusiastic enough about helping her pick out a purse. (Sorry B)
We went to the mall and then to the Arboretum to do some more shopping. Nothing too big, although I did see a really cute boy working at the Luis Vitton section at Saks. Yum.
We came back to my house and bummed around watching PBS. Yeah, can you believe it? I was watching PBS! It was some show about Hot Dogs of the US or something and it made me want a hot dog real bad.
It was raining like crazy cats and dogs outside. We’re talking like insta-flood raining. This area of Texas is crazy with it’s flash flood warnings. My parking lot was a lake. I could hardly see the road while I was driving.
We went to have dinner at Mongolian BBQ up north. We had the hardest time trying to figure out where to eat. I’m the worst at that. I like to eat at the same places, I don’t vary much from my eating establishments.
Dinner was delicious, but we always over eat. It’s one of those places where you pick you food out and put it in a big bowl, then you make your own sauce, then you give it to the chef and he cooks and put it into another bowl for you.
You have to pile that food up high when it’s raw because the meat shrinks down so much. Most people put lots of veggies, meat, and noodles in theres. Mine, well… it’s all meat and noodles. You know I don’t like to eat things that come from the ground; totally grosses me out.
Meat grosses me out too, but I can deal with it if it doesn’t look like the animal it came from and if it in no way resembles meat. The meat they use there is cut into super thing little circular waiffers. I can deal with that.
After dinner we went to pick up Sammy. While sitting at the light at South 1st and Barton Springs I saw the Parmer Events Center billboard with Kelly Willis on it. I had a funny little conversation with Brenna:
Me: I should have my own billboard. I’m better then Kelly Willis. Nobody even knows who she is!
B: You’re more famous than her.
Me: Well, yeah… but my billboard would need to be in East Austin… or the Fiesta parking lot.
Of course, it was one of those “had to be there moments”. You also have to know that East Austin is where the Latinos are, and Fiesta is the grocery store where the shop.
We picked up Sammy and went off to Club Deville so that Brenna could get a Bloody Mary. We hung out there for a bit and I was getting on to Brenna for playing with the candle on the table, so she blew it out. Little did she know that she was putting into motion and terrible chain of events.
About ten minutes later I was trying to re-light the stupid candle. I kept trying to get the lighter down in the glass jar and it wasn’t working for me. So I did what any other moron would do.
I turned the candle jar upside down. Out came a bubbling crude… or actually milky hot white wax… poured all over my lap and my black jeans. So off we were back to my apartment so that I could change. And I don’t live anywhere close to downtown. It’s a 20 minute drive, one way. And all of this over a blown out candle.
FYI: It is now raining again, like end of the world style raining.
So we drove home, I changed, and we headed back downtown to the Rainbow Cattle Company. It was as empty as Jessica Simpson’s head. It was also like 9:45. So there was still plenty of time for it to get busy, and it did. That place usually fills up around 10:30.
I had a really good time and I danced with a lot of people. Leander even showed up!
I wore myself out dancing, but I was actually surprised that I was able to dance so much, considering that I’ve been sick and I wasn’t even up to 100% feeling better last night. The dance floor wasn’t even so crowded, It wasn’t the usual nightmare of directionally challenged Lesbians.
I did some line dancing again. I hadn’t done that in a while. Some of those dances are really way easier than they look.
We left around 2am and stopped by Whataburger on the way to drop Sammy off. Brenna slept on my couch bed and left around 11am.
