I’m still sick and it still sucks. Yesterday I decided to be brave and venture out of the house. I went to meet M.Lo and we went to the movies to see Saved. I had drama at the concession stand. The poor cashier couldn’t work the nacho machine so I had to wait like 10 minutes while he tried to reload it with cheese.
The nachos just didn’t taste the same. Nothing tastes the same when I’m congested and sick. I hadn’t eaten anything all day, and those nachos made me nauseous. I thought I was going to have to go throw up, and I had barely eaten any of them.
The movie was great! Mandy Moore was hilarious and she could quit taking the sweet girl roles and do more roles like this because it was totally suited for her. The movie had a funny little message and yet it wasn’t too preachy.
M.Lo made a joke about not having to go to church on Sunday after having seen that movie… as if she was really going to go to church anyway. SINNER!
After the movie, she wanted to go get some drinks, but I was still feeling queezy and thought it best that I should just go home and lay down. Alcohol would not have been friendly with me while feeling like that.
I spent the rest of the night laid up in bed being gross. I watched some stupid TV and just bummed. I had to go walk to dog and I got stung 5 times by some weird black insects. The bites welted up in to big swollen patches and they hurt really bad. Unlike mosquito bites, they went away in a day. I was a little worried though, because the bite on my wrist got really swollen and red.
Today I got up early and went to pick up M.Lo at 9:30am. We had made plans to go tubing and hang out in New Braunfels at my parent’s house. I thought about canceling because I still felt sick, but the idea of being locked up in my apartment with that dog another day just seemed worse.
When I’m away from the dog I’m still sick, but it’s not as bad. When the dog is around I had the sick and the allergies and that’s just horrible. I seriously can not watch this dog ever again. Every time I do, I get bad allergies and I always say I won’t do it again, but this time it’s for real.
So we headed to NB to go tubing and we stopped at the parent’s house to get tubes and to drop off the dog in the front yard. I didn’t want to leave her locked up in my bathroom all day, so I brought her along. (See, I do have a heart!)
We headed off to the river and everything around was closed. We thought maybe the river was closed because the water was too high, but we found one place open and parked there.
We should have paid more attention to what was going on instead.
1) All the tube places were closed.
2) Nobody was tubing
3) The water was really high and going fast.
But no, we went tubing anyways and it was fun, but a mistake. The water was going way too fast and it was too rough. We kept getting stuck on the banks of the river and caught in trees. M.Lo was screaming and at one point almost flipped out of her tube.
At the end of the trip you have to get to the river bank to get out at the bridge, and the water was so fast and rough that we barely made it over. It was looking a little scary for a bit there.
The trip laster about 15 - 20 minutes and that does not make it worth it. The reason is that the river does a horseshoe around the road and you get in at one bridge and ride to the other bridge (down the road), then get out and walk back to the first bridge. It’s no short walk and it takes about 15 minutes.
Usually the ride on the river takes about an hour, so the 15 minute walk to get back in and ride again doesn’t seem so bad. But then the ride is only 15 minutes and you have to walk 15 minutes to do it again… no thanx. Especially when it’s so hard to get out and it’s a tad dangerous.
So we went back to my parent’s house and just decided to play in the pool instead. That was much nicer! We just hung out in the pool drinking all afternoon, then went inside and made some queso and salsa.
The salsa didn’t come out right because mom and I had a little misunderstanding about whether or not she had cilantro. It’s just not the same without it; not that it mattered, because we ate it anyway.
We left there at about 3pm and picked up M.Lo’s daughter (J.Lo) in San Marcos, then went home. I dropped them off at their apartment, came home to shower, and that’s it so far.
I’m so worn out. The combination of all the walking and struggling at the river, then drying out in the sun, and drinking, and being sick, and taking medicine, all just wore me out. It’s totally time for a nap.
