Xoch and Jessica came to my place at 6:30ish yesterday and we headed off to have dinner and to see “The Funniest Man in Austin” contest. I was in a pissy mood from having been waiting too long and not having any food.
We went to eat at Serranos, and I must say, they are quite expensive for the kind of food they serve and the atmosphere. I mean Serranos is just like one step up from fast food as far as I’m concerned, yet they charge as much as some of the finer restaurants in Austin. Who do they think they are?
Not to mention that the floors are always covered in food and chips, the waiters clothes are always covered in food, and they look completely ungroomed. Anyway, the food was ok. The service was mediocre. I am doomed to have bad service everywhere I go lately.
While at Serranos, Xoch called Fernando to invite him to the show. He met up with us outside of the Capital City Comedy Club.
I have to say, there aren’t that many funny people in Austin. Or maybe I’m just too picky. I mean, I know what funny is. My friends are funny; Sammy is funny. These people were just not funny. One lady got up and seriously just told stories about her dog and her kids. Stories people! Stories! There were no jokes involved, although she thought her stories were pretty funny… we certainly did not.
By the time we had left, I had only seen two people that made me laugh, one of them being the friend that we went to see. I can’t say Carlos was the funnier of the two people, but it was definitely a close call.
After the show I went home and off to bed. Tonight is crammed with activity. Kristi and I are going to try to go work out after work, have dinner, and then get to the bowling alley by 8:15. We’re bowling the “Old Broads” tonight. They are the slowest team in the league, so we’ll be at the alley until LATE.
