Yesterday I left work at 12 to go get some stuff done. I went to get the oil changed in my Montero. I go to the dealer because they do it for free, even though they take forever. So this time I was smart and brought my book along. So I just read while I waited and it didn’t seem very long at all.
Next I went to get my baby washed up and all pretty. I get free car washes too. So I sat and read while they did that. I got so much reading done. By the time I finished both of those duties, I only had about 20 pages left in my book.
I got home, made lunch, and finished up the book. The book is Bridget Jones Diary. It was pretty good, although a lot different from the movie. I put that book up and got out the next one to begin.
Later Sammy called and we made plans for dinner. We went downtown to Schlotzky’s to eat and watch the Frost Bank building get lit up. It’s the first time the building has had all the lights turned on. While we were eating, some members of my bowling league came in and sat at the table next to us. One of them just happened to be that annoying guy from Tuesday night that ragged on us about our handicap.
He noticed me and waved, but thank GOD he didn’t come over and try to talk to me.
So after dinner we went outside and sat in the field and chatted while we waited for them to light up the building. Of course they didn’t do it on time, it was about 20 minutes late. They lit it up in sections and at first it looked kind of lame. The longer it stayed on, the stronger the lights became and it eventually looked pretty cool.
It sounds pretty lame to have spent and evening waited for someone to turn the lights on in a building, but it was actually kind of fun… lame, but fun. The building looks like something from Gotham City, it’s cool looking.
Two pics of the building:

After that, I went home and started on my next book, Touch the Top of the World - Erik Weihenmayer. I’m on the third chapter already and it’s pretty good. My friend Woody sent it to me a while ago. He got it autographed too.
Tonight I’m going to Xoch’s art show in East Austin.
